En este trabajo presentamos una inmersión en el análisis de dos formas de autorreferencia desfocalizada que alternan en el discurso emitido por mujeres: uno y una. Desde nuestra perspectiva, la alternancia no es azarosa ni responde meramente al señalamiento del género del hablante, como tradicionalmente se ha descrito, en tanto ambas formas se encuentran en variación intrahablante en el discurso femenino. En consecuencia, buscamos descubrir cuáles son los factores que influyen en la selección. En esa búsqueda, el análisis de nuestro corpus literario, desde una metodología cualitativa y cuantitativa, nos permite aseverar que los temas relacionados con la experiencia femenina favorecen la ocurrencia de la forma una, en los contextos en los que se reproduce el estereotipo.
