A obesidade, doença integrante do grupo de Doenças Crônicas Não-Transmissíveis, é o acúmulo excessivo de gordura corporal em extensão tal, que acarreta prejuízos à saúde dos indivíduos. A etiologia da obesidade é um processo multifatorial que envolve aspectos ambientais e genéticos. Atualmente, a obesidade é um problema de saúde pública mundial, tanto os países desenvolvidos como os em desenvolvimento apresentam elevação de sua prevalência. A transição nutricional é um processo de modificações seqüenciais no padrão de nutrição e consumo, que acompanha mudanças econômicas, sociais e demográficas, e mudanças do perfil de saúde das populações. Neste novo perfil, a urbanização determinou uma mudança nos padrões de comportamento alimentar que, juntamente com a redução da atividade física nas populações, vem desempenhando importante papel. O aumento da prevalência da obesidade no Brasil é relevante e proporcionalmente mais elevado nas famílias de baixa renda. O quadro epidemiológico nutricional do Brasil deve apontar para estratégias de saúde pública capazes de dar conta de um modelo de atenção para desnutrição e obesidade, integrando conseqüências e interfaces das políticas econômicas dentro do processo de adoecer e morrer das populações. A presente revisão de literatura tem como objetivo enfatizar os aspectos epidemiológicos do sobrepeso e da obesidade em adultos, como importante agravo no âmbito da saúde pública.
OBJETIVO: Caracterizar a formação em saúde pública nos cursos de graduação em Nutrição, considerando o perfil dos professores e disciplinas oferecidas na área de Nutrição em Saúde Pública. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal tendo sido enviados questionários a todas as instituições públicas e particulares brasileiras com graduação em Nutrição e com ao menos uma turma formada até o primeiro semestre de 2010 (n=296). Avaliou-se, o tempo de funcionamento dos cursos; número de vagas, oferta de cursos de pós-graduação; disciplinas que compõem a área de Nutrição em Saúde Pública, carga horária, distribuição de horas entre aulas teóricas e práticas e formação dos professores por elas responsáveis. RESULTADOS: Foram recebidos 65 questionários (22,0%). A maioria dos cursos destinou no máximo 30% da carga horária total para as disciplinas de Nutrição em Saúde Pública. Em média, 82,2% das disciplinas de Nutrição em Saúde Pública eram obrigatórias. Quase um quarto da carga horária das disciplinas de Nutrição em Saúde Pública é destinado a atividades práticas. Nas instituições públicas, 48,0% dos cursos apresentavam mais da metade do total de professores nutricionistas, contra 17,5% nas particulares. CONCLUSÃO: A área de Nutrição em Saúde Pública caracteriza-se pelas disciplinas de Avaliação Nutricional, Educação Nutricional, Nutrição em Saúde Pública e Epidemiologia. Nos cursos estudados identificou-se a necessidade de aumentar a oferta de disciplinas que contribuam para a formação de profissionais voltados para o Sistema Único de Saúde, com capacidade de análise dos problemas nutricionais considerando o contexto histórico-político-econômico-demográfico-ambiental e epidemiológico. Percebeu-se ainda insuficiência na abordagem de áreas que não strito sensu de saúde como alimentação escolar e segurança alimentar e nutricional.
ObjetivoAnalisar e comparar o conhecimento sobre nutrição de professores e alunos do Projeto "a escola promovendo hábitos alimentares saudáveis", submetidos a duas estratégias de educação nutricional em escolas do Distrito Federal. MétodosO Projeto Escola utilizou duas estratégias de intervenção em educação nutricional: intervenção nutricional (A) ações educativas realizadas na comunidade escolar pela equipe; e intervenção nutricional (B) ações educativas desenvolvidas por professores que frequentaram oficinas de capacitação. O conhecimento das crianças foi avaliado por meio de um instrumento sobre pirâmide dos alimentos e um sobre higiene pessoal; sendo aplicado com os professores um questionário do tipo verdadeiro ou falso.
OBJETIVO: Analisar a percepção de professores e estudantes em relação ao perfil de formação do nutricionista em saúde pública. MÉTODOS: A pesquisa, de abordagem qualiquantitativa, foi realizada com participantes do 21° Congresso Brasileiro de Nutrição. Foi aplicado um questionário com estudantes e recémegressos, e feito um grupo focal com professores. Foi estabelecida a análise descritiva dos dados quantitativos, e a análise qualitativa foi desenvolvida por meio da análise do discurso do sujeito coletivo. RESULTADOS: Dentre os estudantes, 35% relataram ter afinidade com a área de saúde pública, e 11% dos egressos disseram atuar em saúde pública. Segundo os professores, as principais barreiras percebidas na formação do nutricionista em saúde pública foram: dificuldade de inserção do profissional na área; relação entre teoria e prática; e relação ensino e serviço de saúde. CONCLUSÃO: Os aspectos de saúde pública na formação do nutricionista ainda são incipientes, o que evidencia a necessidade de um maior aprofundamento do tema.
A Segurança alimentar e nutricional consiste na realização do direito de todos ao acesso regular e permanente a alimentos de qualidade, em quantidade suficiente, sem comprometer o acesso a outras necessidades essenciais, tendo como base práticas alimentares promotoras de saúde que respeitem a diversidade cultural e que sejam ambiental, cultural, econômica e socialmente sustentáveis. Este artigo busca identificar o contexto histórico e o desenvolvimento das abordagens e potencialidades que o significado de SAN assumiu ao longo dos tempos no Brasil. Neste cenário, descreve seu movimento e conformação à luz de um contexto histórico - político (e econômico) de ascensão de princípios neoliberais que tem influenciado tanto para a distorção da perspectiva totalizante da relação estado e sociedade civil quanto para sua forma de inserção e implementação na agenda política brasileira.
