Esse estudo objetivou analisar a produção ambulatorial de fisioterapia na Bahia entre 2008 a 2014. Trata-se de uma pesquisa ecológica de série temporal através de dados secundários brutos extraídos do Sistema de Informação Ambulatorial do SUS no período de 2008 a 2014. Considerou-se para análise estratos de comparação relativos ao Estado, macrorregiões de saúde, as modalidades de atendimento de fisioterapia e a esfera administrativa dos serviços. A produção dos dados considerou o cálculo de coeficientes de atendimento no período inicial e final e foram realizadas análises descritivas simples de cunho comparativo considerando as variações anuais e os estratos. Os resultados apontaram variações positivas e negativas nos coeficientes de atendimento nas regiões estudadas, com predomínio da produção ambulatorial em alterações musculoesqueléticas e participação significativa da iniciativa privada em todo o Estado. Salienta-se que as condições econômicas populacionais, a oferta de planos privados de saúde e mudanças no processo de regionalização expliquem as variações encontradas nos coeficientes. O perfil dos atendimentos reflete as mudanças no perfil epidemiológico do Estado e a predominância do setor privado remonta para uma conjuntura de contradição do direito à saúde, exigindo, portanto, ações regulatórias mais contundentes sobre os contratos e convênios celebrados com o SUS.
