RESUMO Este trabalho tem como objetivo refletir sobre as práticas pedagógicas que utilizam o blackface de maneira equivocada na busca pela valorização da história e cultura afro-brasileira e africana. Para alcançar tal objetivo, utilizamos como aporte teórico Munanga (2008), Hall (2016), Souza (2011) e Silva (2014). A metodologia utilizada foi a análise qualitativa de entrevistas estruturadas e semiestruturadas com os professores da Educação Infantil e dos Anos Iniciais do Fundamental. Por fim, compreendeu-se que muitos professores não sabem do que trata o blackface, mesmo quando o praticam, o que é resultado de uma formação com currículo eurocêntrico que reproduz um discurso racista sem as devidas informações sobre as questões étnico-raciais. Sendo assim, práticas racistas com o intuito de promover igualdade racial nas escolas continuam a ser engendradas, “consumidas” por alunos e também reproduzidas por eles em um contínuo ciclo de repetição, cuja interrupção só será possibilitada com a efetivação de práticas antirracistas que estão em acordo com a Lei 10.639/2003 e suas Diretrizes Nacionais Curriculares (2004).
