Envelhecer é um processo natural que caracteriza uma etapa da vida do homem e dá-se por mudanças físicas, psicológicas e sociais que acometem de forma particular cada indivíduo com sobrevida prolongada. A partir dos 60 anos destacam-se as doenças osteoarticulares, hipertensão arterial sistêmica (HAS), doença cerebrovascular e o câncer. As doenças cardíacas apresentam-se como aquelas cuja ausência promoveria maiores ganhos em porcentagem de anos a serem vividos livres de incapacidade em ambos os sexos. O objetivo desse artigo foi avaliar o perfil dos idosos atendidos pela Fisioterapia na UTI Geral do Hospital Geral Universitário de Cuiabá/MT, bem como, identificar as doenças mais prevalentes nestes idosos hospitalizados. Foi realizado um estudo de análise nos prontuários dos pacientes com 60 anos ou mais, que estiveram hospitalizados na UTI Geral do HGU e foram submetidos à tratamento fisioterapêutico no período compreendido entre os anos de 2011 a 2013. O presente estudo apontou a HAS (32%) como a doença mais prevalente, seguida por DM tipo II com 15,5%. Os pacientes avaliados tiveram uma média de tempo de internação de 13 dias. 35,8% apresentaram comorbidades associadas. Entre os anos de 2011 a 2013 mais de 60% dos idosos atendidos pela fisioterapia na UTI Geral do HGU pertenciam ao gênero masculino, sendo as doenças mais prevalentes HAS, DM Tipo II e PNM. Os principais procedimentos fisioterapêuticos utilizados foram: Mobilização, Posicionamento do paciente no leito e Padrões ventilatórios.Palavras-chave: Idosos. Prevalência. Fisioterapia.Abstract Aging is a natural process that features a man’s life stage and occurs by physical, psychological and social changes that affect a particular way each individual with prolonged survival. From the age of 60 there are the osteoarticular diseases, high blood pressure (hypertension), cerebrovascular disease and cancer. Heart disease are presented as those whose absence would promote greater gains in percentage of years to be lived disability-free in both sexes. Evaluate the characteristics of elderly treated by physiotherapy in the University General Hospital of the ICU of Cuiabá / MT, as well as identify the most prevalent diseases in these hospitalized elderly. We conducted a study examining the medical records of patients aged 60 or older who were hospitalized in the General ICU of HGU and underwent physical therapy treatment in the period between the years 2011 to 2013. Results: This study showed hypertension (32%) as the most prevalent disease. This study found hypertension (32%) as the most prevalent disease, followed by type II DM with 15.5%.
