Hamilton (2001). The calculation, developed for the years 1984/85 to 1994/95, is based on the estimation of a demand curve for food. The Income and Expenditure surveys available for those years are used for this purpose. It is concluded CPI bias fluctuated from 1.63 and 1.69 percent points per year. Abstract This paper presents an estimation of the Consumer Price Index bias for Colombia based on the methodology proposed byPalabras Claves: Inflación, Curva de Engel y Sesgo del IPC.
SummaryThis paper presents the results of an econometric model of firm size and growth applied to Colombian firm level data. The paper reviews the most important theories of firm size. A Quintile Regression is applied to test the relevance of these theories. Special attention is given to the Gibrat's law. This law suggests that firm growth is independent of its size.
AbstractThis paper presents a quality index of the corporate governance practices of group of firms that trade ordinary shares at the Colombian Stock Exchange. This index is constructed with public available information. It also describes, for the same group of firms, the results of a Tobit model that explains the influence of these practices on the relation of their market to book value (Tobin s q ).
The evidence shows that there is a contemporary relation between the variance and the asymmetry of the price level distribution and the general inflation. The causality between inflation and these measures is also analyzed. Finally, the predictive power of the variance and asymmetry on inflation is reviewed. Summary This paper examines the relation between the distribution of relative prices changes and the general inflation levels for the
