O entendimento acerca das especificidades da função educativa dos museus passou por importantes transformações, mas pouco se avançou no que diz respeito à formação dos educadores museais. A literatura sobre o tema aponta para o predomínio da formação no desenvolver da própria prática profissional e destaca a pouca presença de instâncias acadêmicas voltadas para a formação dos mesmos. No presente artigo abordaremos discussões acerca do perfil dos educadores museais, das práticas e dos desafios referentes à formação inicial e continuada destes, tanto no cenário nacional quanto no internacional. Fazemos considerações acerca de iniciativa voltada à formação de profissionais nesse campo em nível de pós-graduação, bem como de ações em diferentes formatos desenvolvidas mais recentemente no Rio de Janeiro.
RESUMO Museus de ciência e seus visitantes é um estudo longitudinal realizado pelo Observatório de Museus e Centros de Ciência e Tecnologia (OMCC&T) com o objetivo de acompanhar o perfil e a opinião do público de visitação espontânea em cinco museus de ciência da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A pesquisa quadrienal é realizada com visitantes não agendados, maiores de 15 anos, por meio de um questionário autoaplicado com 28 questões objetivas sobre o perfil do visitante, antecedentes e circunstâncias da visita, opinião e seus hábitos culturais. Os dados relativos aos 8.706 respondentes das quatro etapas da pesquisa, realizadas em 2005, 2009, 2013 e 2017, foram tratados estatisticamente e revelam padrões e alterações no perfil e na visão do público sobre a visita a essas instituições. Destaca-se a prevalência da indicação de outros visitantes e do boca a boca digital como meio de divulgação para o conhecimento do museu. O estudo apontou a satisfação dos visitantes em todos os museus e a perspectiva de retorno em nova visita nos doze meses seguintes. Outros achados se sobressaem: a crescente presença feminina a cada rodada, o aumento da autodeclaração de pretos e pardos, a queda sucessiva na renda domiciliar declarada, além do aumento de visitantes que não exercem atividade remunerada. Entretanto, a parcela da população com maior escolaridade e renda é a que mais frequenta os museus, indicando que a exclusão social ainda configura um problema que deve ser permanentemente estudado e debatido, com vistas à democratização da cultura.
A discussão em torno da acessibilidade vem crescendo e ganhando espaço nas agendas de discussão de políticas públicas com vistas a garantir à pessoa com deficiência o exercício de seu direito à fruição. São escassos os estudos de público em museus brasileiros sobre o tema e os existentes não contemplam as pessoas com deficiência. O presente artigo apresenta uma pesquisa inédita acerca do perfil e da opinião de pessoas com deficiência em situação de visita espontânea à dez museus que integram o Observatório de Museu e Centros de Ciência e Tecnologia - OMCC&T, nas cidades do Rio de Janeiro e de Duque de Caxias. Foram aplicados 4.705 questionários aos visitantes espontâneos maiores de 15 anos dessas instituições e 63 foram respondidos por pessoas com deficiência. Os respondentes estão distribuídos igualmente quanto ao sexo; dentre estes, a deficiência física prevalece. A maior parte dos respondentes possui ensino superior completo, característico do público que frequenta museus. Eles consideraram a falta de divulgação e de informações sobre museus e exposições como uma das principais barreiras à visitação. O acolhimento pela equipe dos museus foi o único aspecto considerado “ótimo/muito bom” por mais da metade dos pesquisados, evidenciando a importância da acessibilidade atitudinal.
