<p class="8Abstractcontent">The aims of this research are to know the errors made by the learners on their English narrative composition; to identify the factors made the errors by learners; to identify the errors made by the learners; to correct the errors which have been made; to improve the teaching quality appropriating the curriculum and the syllabus; as well as to get the data and the explanation about the difficulties in studying English especially in arranging the conjunction of English narrative composition. The method used in this research is descriptive method that gives the data and the explanation about the recent symptoms of the errors made by the learners. The descriptive method consists of the ways in giving the note, the analysis and the interpretation about the recent condition. The characteristic of the descriptive method is to give the existence of the data which is straight to the problems as the recent variables are not manipulated. The research was carried out by conducting a written test of English narrative composition for the learners. After analyzing the data, the findings point out that the errors of coordinate conjunction are 33.3% and the subordinate conjunction is 66,7 %.</p><p> </p><strong>Keywords:</strong> syntactical error, conjunctional, narrative text
The purpose achieved in this community service is to provide English language socialization to TOEFL as it can be one of the efforts to improve English mastery skills for teachers. The material in the socialization provided includes basic competence that are very useful to support the ability to communicate both oral and written. The materials are structure of English, reading, and listening. The structure of English language is the basis competence for mastering other basic skills because a good mastery on language structure can significantly improve the ability in other languages. These three basic competence are the basic elements of learning English for both academic and practical purposes. This socialization is expected to help teachers both English and non-English teachers to motivate themselves and to optimize their potential in English so that they can make a significant contribution to the school, and even for the development of their own careers.Keywords: TOEFL, English Language, socialization, equivalentABSTRAKTujuan diadakannya kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi Bahasa Inggris berekualensi TOEFL salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penguasaan bahasa Inggris bagi guru. Materi dalam sosialisasi yang diberikan mencakup kemampuan dasar yang sangat berguna untuk menunjang kemampuan berkomunikasi baik lisan maupun tertulis. Materi tersebut adalah struktur bahasa Inggris, membaca, dan menyimak. Struktur bahasa Inggris merupakan dasar bagi penguasaan kemampuan dasar yang lain karena dengan penguasaan struktur bahasa yang baik, kemampuan dalam bidang bahasa yang lain secara signifikan dapat ditingkatkan. Ketiga kemampuan dasar tersebut merupakan elemen dasar dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, baik untuk tujuan akademik maupun untuk tujuan praktis. Dengan adanya sosialisasi ini diharapkan dapat membantu para guru baik guru bahasa Inggris maupun guru non bahasa Inggris untuk memotivasi diri dan mengoptimalkan potensi yang mereka miliki dalam bahasa Inggris sehingga mereka dapat memberikan sumbangan yang berarti bagi sekolah, dan terlebih lagi bagi pengembangan karier mereka sendiri.Kata Kunc : TOEFL, Bahasa Inggris, Sosialisasi, Berekuivalen
Abstrak: Potensi lahan pertanian di Indonesia masih sangat luas sehingga sektor pertanian masih menjadi salah satu pendapatan bagi sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia. Sektor lahan pertanian tersebar sangat luas di berbagai daerah di Indonesia salah satunya di daerah Kabupaten Oku Timur Sumatra Selatan. Sebagai daerah agraris, mayoritas penduduk di Kabupaten Oku Timur memilih mata pencarian sebagai petani. Namun persebaran lahan pertanian tersebut belum dilakukan pemetaan, yang dapat memberikan informasi mengenai letak lahan pertanian khususnya yang ada di Kabupaten Oku Timur. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pembangunan Sistem Informasi Geografis Lahan Pertanian Berbasis web di Kabupaten OKU Timur. Sistem informasi geografis yang dibangun dapat menampilkan informasi berupa data spasial dan non spasial yang menggambarkan sebuah objek berdasarkan keadaaan bumi. Metode yang digunakan dalam membuat sistem ini adalah menggunakan metode berorientasi objek. Dengan dilakukannya pembangunan Sistem Informasi Geografis ini diharapkan mampu memberikan informasi bagi masyarakat tentang persebaran letak dan luas lahan pertanian khususnya di wilayah Kabupaten OKU Timur.

This purposes of this research are (1) to identify the effect of the cooperative model STAD type on students’ writing skill of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur academic year 2019/2020, and (2) to describe the steps of writing descriptive text through the cooperative model STAD type of class VII students of SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur academic year 2019/2020. This research is Quasi-Experimental. The subjects of the research was the students of class VII SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur in which 30 students in control class and 30 students in experimental class. The data was taken by written test techniques. The data analysis was done by calculating the total score of the control class and the experimental class of each student which was then compared with their skill categories. The indicator of success in this research is the effect of students’ ability in writing descriptive text in class VII of SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur through the use of cooperative learning model STAD type. This research is said to be successful if the percentage of the students in the experimental class is 82.63 higher than the control class which falls into 70.20. The results showed: (1) the use of cooperative learning model type STAD has an effect in writing descriptive text. (2) The steps of the cooperative learning model STAD type in writing descriptive text are: 1) conveying goals and motivating students, 2) presenting information, 3) organizing students in cooperative groups, 4) guiding groups to work and study, 5) evaluating, and 6) giving awards. Thus the cooperative learning model STAD type significantly influence students’ skill in writing descriptive text.
