ABSTRACT Intermittent fasting characterized by alternating periods of food deprivation and ad libitum feedback began to be studied in Muslims during Ramadan and has emerged as a food control practice. The objective was to characterize the consequences of intermittent fasting on changes in body composition. Therefore, an integrative review of the literature was carried out, selecting articles available in the databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online -MEDLINE, National Center for Biotechnology Information -NCBI, Science Direct, Cambridge Core, ResearchGate, CAPES -Personnel Improvement Coordination, using as descriptors intermittent fasting, alternating day fasting, calorie restriction, energy restriction, time restricted feeding and inclusion criteria for studies that ranged from 2012 to 2017 in the English, Spanish and Portuguese languages, and exclude articles not available in full. A total of 61 articles were found, of which 17 met the pre-established criteria. Intermittent fasting has a metabolic effect superior to caloric restriction, and when associated with exercise may have a more intense effect when compared to non-associated. In addition, it can be said that it protects against cardiovascular ...
Brazil is among the leaders in the ranking of the number of elective cesarean sections, and such a procedure, when unnecessary, can have serious consequences for the health of the mother and the newborn, which is generally not cleared up satisfactorily to the pregnant woman before the procedure. This study aimed to verify the incidence of cesarean sections in cities that integrate the 20 th Regional Health Coordination of Ceará (RHCC), in the period of 2008-2018. This is a descriptive and retrospective study, with a quantitative approach, using data from the Hospital Information System of the Unifi ed Health System (HIS/ SUS) of the SUS IT Department (DATASUS). This study demonstrated an increase in the number of cesarean sections in the cities of the 20 th RHCC, and sometimes exceeding the number of vaginal deliveries. It is necessary to overcome the medicalization of childbirth, facilitate women's access to health services and encourage the strengthening of educational activities, especially in primary care services, in order to encourage pregnant women to choose vaginal delivery.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
