Abstract-This study presents a polarization reconfigurable antenna with frequency diversity function. The antenna incorporates a novel positive and negative perturbation technique to achieve different polarization sense. A square shape slot is loaded on the ground plane to excite circular polarization by creating a negative perturbation. An L-shape segment is integrated to the patch using a switching diode. This segment creates a positive perturbation to eliminate the negative perturbation created by the defected ground slot, and the antenna excites linear polarization. Frequency diversity is achieved by exciting different polarization senses at different frequencies. A 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 1.41% is obtained for circular polarization radiation while the 10-dB impedance bandwidth during linear polarization is 1.8%. The antenna shows good radiation performances with high gain at both polarization states, and the performances are confirmed experimentally.
In this paper, a novel circularly polarized rectenna using a dual-feed array antenna with inclined patches is proposed to provide a dual-axis wide-angle reception capability. A new conical and pencil dual-beam circularly polarized array antenna integrating planar magic-Ts is designed and fabricated to overcome the polarization and main-beam misalignment between the transmitting and receiving antennas. To improve the rectenna's output power, open stub matching networks are used to achieve the matching between the antenna and rectifying diodes. Two types of circularly polarized dual-axis rectennas which respectively allow the parallel and series connections of two diodes are experimentally evaluated and compared to confirm the wide-angle reception capabilities in the x-z and y-z planes.
A coupled oscillator array using push-push oscillators and resonator type coupling circuits is presented. In the proposed oscillator array, the coupling circuit operates at the fundamental frequency and the output signal is the 2nd harmonics. The adjacent oscillators are connected via the coupling circuits. The coupling circuit is used to synchronize the oscillators and control the phase difference of the output signals. In this study, a three elements push-push oscillator array has been designed in Ku band. The measured phase shift between the output signals of the adjacent oscillators is 511 degrees at the maximum.
