Here, for the first time, we designed an ultrasensitive nanocurcumin based nanomaterials surface energy transfer (NSET) probe for detection of trace amount of TNT with excellent sensitivity (1 nM) and selectivity over other nitro explosives via nanoaggregation and we found the largest fluorescent enhancement to date for sensing TNT (upto 800 fold).

Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) are introduced as chemically and thermally stable nanomaterials with well-defined and controllable morphology and porosity. It is shown that these particles possess external and internal surfaces that can be selectively functionalized with multiple organic and inorganic groups. Silica nano-particles were synthesized by chemical methods from tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), methanol (CH3OH) and deionised water in the presence of sodium hydroxide as catalyst at 80°C temperature. The nature and morphology of particles was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption/desorption method using BET instrument and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Silica nanoparticles are applicable to a wide range of therapeutic entities from small molecule to peptides and proteins including hydrophobic and hydrophilic entities. Drug loading does not require chemical modification of the molecule; there are no changes in the drug structure or activity after loading and subsequent release of the drug. Thus, well suited to solve formulation problems associated with hydrophobic drugs such as peptide and protein drugs like cyclosporine A. Silica nanoparticles improved the solubility of poorly water soluble drugs and enhanced the absorption and bioavailability of these compounds.

A novel photoinduced electron transfer (PET) based substituted calix[4]arene fluoroionophore has been used for the selective recognition of tryptophan (L-Trp) and histidine (L-His) by emission spectroscopy. The detection limit of the synthesized receptor was found to be 0.00826 nM for L-Trp and 0.00158 nM for L-His. Moreover, this probe has been applied for the recognition of L-Trp and L-His from blood serum.

Herein, we reported unique optical and electrochemical properties of citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as a probe for smartphone-assisted, on-spot detection of codeine sulphate in toxicological screening with high sensitivity (0.9 μM).

We demonstrate a facile strategy for preparing highly stable silver nanoprobe modified p-sulphonato-calix[4]resorcinarene in aqueous media. We also report the efficient and selective sensing properties of the novel assembly for organophosphorus insecticides and its great potential for application to real-time in situ detection of organophosphorus pesticides in waste water.

A novel PET with ICT based substituted calix[4]arene fluroionophore was synthesized and used for detection of Cu(2+) and F(-) by emission spectra. The detection limit of the synthesized receptor was found to be 4.16 nM for Cu(2+) and 2.15 nM for F(-). Moreover, this probe has been applied for recognition of Cu(2+) in blood serum and F(-) from waste water.
