Un certain nombre de territoires pensés par les États comme espaces de relégation font l’objet de restructurations démesurées et incompatibles avec les vies autochtones. Face à ces Grand projets inutiles et imposés, des mouvements d’ampleur transnationale se sont formés. À travers l’exemple du mouvement Notav, critiquant sur le versant italien le projet d’une nouvelle ligne ferroviaire reliant Turin à Lyon, Anahita Grisoni revient sur les problématiques mises en perspective par ces formes de luttes prônant des alternatives de vie en milieu rural.

Leur capital culturel, d’origine familiale, sociale et universitaire, leur fournit les armes pour faire de nécessité vertu : pour elles et eux, il faut faire de la sobriété un choix. Plus que l’appartenance commune à des classes moyennes italiennes vouées au « précariat », c’est l’expérience générationnelle qui pèse et oriente la façon dont se tissent les liens entre rapport à l’argent, expériences de vie alternatives et revendication d’un territoire qu’il s’agit de défendre contre les « grands projets inutiles ».
