No sistema urinário dos animais de companhia, a urolitíase é uma das afecções mais comumente encontradas. O diagnóstico da urolitíase pode ser confirmado por meio da anamnese, exame físico e exames complementares. O tratamento dos cálculos urinários pode ser clínico ou cirúrgico, sendo que o tratamento irá variar dependendo da composição do urólito e da sua localização. No presente relato destaca-se uma fêmea, da espécie canina, 8 anos, raça Schnauzer, não castrada. A tutora relata consulta prévia, em colega, em decorrência de sintomas e alterações na atividade locomotora do animal referido. Foram realizados exames complementares que constataram a presença de estruturas compatíveis com litíase em topografia renal e em vesícula urinária. Dessa forma, foi realizada nefrotomia, cistotomia e ováriohisterectomia eletiva do animal, e após procedimento cirúrgico optou-se por permanecê-lo internado sob avaliação nas primeiras 24 horas a fim de monitorar o débito urinário e o controle da dor. Após 10 dias do procedimento cirúrgico repetiu-se a ultrassonografia, sem evidência de anormalidades. Foi orientado a tutora realizar exames periodicamente para reavaliar possíveis recidivas e continuar a administração da dieta terapêutica durante pelo menos 3 meses.
O tratamento indicado para cães com linfoma é a quimioterapia, cujo fator limitante é a mielotoxicidade, que pode ser revertida pelo transplante de medula óssea (TMO). Antes do TMO, o animal deve ser submetido à terapia imunossupressora para evitar a rejeição. Para recuperação da imunossupressão recomenda-se a administração da citocina G-CSF, que estimula a proliferação e a maturação neutrofílica. Porém, há relatos de que a aplicação de G-CSF promove redução na contagem plaquetária. O objetivo deste ensaio foi avaliar o efeito do G-CSF sobre o número de plaquetas e megacariócitos em cães com linfoma submetidos à quimioterapia e TMO. Os cinco cães sadios do grupo 1 receberam 5 μg/kg/dia de G-CSF por quatro dias; o grupo 2, constituído por cinco cães com linfoma submetidos ao protocolo quimioterápico de Madison-Wisconsin, TMO autólogo e G-CSF. A contagem plaquetária e megacariocítica foi feita antes do TMO, antes e após o G-CSF. A administração do G-CSF humano pôde reduzir os valores dos megacariócitos e plaquetas de cães. A maior porcentagem de cães trombocitopenicos com linfoma foi, provavelmente, graças à quimioterapia mielossupressiva, à toxidez hematológica da ciclofosfamida e à administração de G-CSF. A recuperação megacariocítica e plaquetária mais expressiva nos cães com linfoma pode ter ocorrido em virtude do TMO, que estimulou a megacariocitopoese.
