Artes têm sido uma matéria obrigatória em escolas primárias e secundárias (lº e 2º graus) no Brasil já há 17 anos. Isto não foi uma conquista de arte-educadores brasileiros mas uma criação ideológica de educadores norte-americanos que, sob um acordo oficial (Acordo MEC-USAID), reformulou a Educação Brasileira, estabelecendo em 1971 os objetivos e o currículo configurado na Lei Federal nº 5692 denominada "Diretrizes e Bases da Educação".Essa lei estabeleceu uma educação tecnológicamente orientada que começou a profissionalizar a criança na 7ª série, sendo a escola secundária completamente profissionalizante. Esta foi uma maneira de profissionalizar mão-deobra barata para as companhias multinacionais que adquiriram grande poder econômico no País sob o regime da ditadura militar de 1964 a 1983. * Relato encomendado pela UNESCO à INSEA. O documento integral organizado por Elliot Eisner teve a colaboração de Graham Graeme Chalmers, do Canadá; Rachel Mason, da Inglaterra; Marie Françoise Chavanne, da França; Edwin Ziegfeld, dos Estados Unidos; e Ana Mae Barbosa, do Brasil. Este servirá de base para o "Congress on Quality on Art Teaching", da UNESCO.
Este texto traz um breve histórico contextualizando a trajetória da Arte que, na escola brasileira, tem oscilado, de modo arbitrário, entre componente curricular obrigatório e não obrigatório. Mostra, fundado em bibliografia especializada, como as Artes desenvolvem a cognição do indivíduo, cognição esta que pode ser aplicada a outras áreas do conhecimento. Conclui que a retirada da Arte como disciplina escolar significa reduzir a possibilidade do desenvolvimento de habilidades importantes para os jovens, relacionadas com o desenvolvimento de sua subjetividade e com a formação profissional. Através de uma historiografia crítica sobre o ensino de arte no Brasil, a Professora Doutora Ana Mae Barbosa conta, através de resultados de experiências realizadas com a Proposta Triangular, como a arte-educação é necessária para a formação de indivíduos mais plenos.
Resumen: La enseñanza del Diseño en el sistema educativo español resulta peculiar frente a otros modelos como el anglosajón, donde no existe una diferenciación tan drástica entre estudios de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts) y Diseño (Design). En un contexto cambiante, acelerado por los ritmos que impone el uso de las tecnologías, la pervivencia de las tradicionales separaciones entre las especialidades vinculadas a las artes supone un obstáculo para la innovación educativa y para dar respuesta a las necesidades formativas que la sociedad reclama. Una de las claves para redefinir el nuevo espacio es el impulso de la investigación educativa. En este sentido, las "VIII Jornadas Internacionales de Investigación en Educación Artística" promovidas el Grupo CREARI de Investigación en Pedagogías Culturales (GIUV2013-103), la EASD de Valencia y el Instituto de Creatividad e Innovaciones Educativas de la Universitat de València se plantean como un encuentro académico en el cual abordar los diferentes aspectos que preocupan al sector. Unimos los conceptos de investigación y educación en el ámbito del Diseño para de gestionar propuestas de futuro. Junto a otros artículos, presentamos un dossier sobre "Investigar y educar en diseño". En esta demanda por una mayor presencia de las artes en la educación, el proyecto de innovación educativa "Second Round: Arte y Lucha en Secundaria" de la Universitat de València presenta la iniciativa "Second Round Cerámica" un evento académico y formativo que contará con la colaboración de varios institutos de secundaria y de la EASC de Manises.
