Objectivesassess the quality of nursing care, the patients' satisfaction and the correlation between both.Methodcross-sectional study, involving 275 patients hospitalized at a teaching hospital in the Central-West of Brazil. The data were collected through the simultaneous application of three instruments. Next, they were included in an electronic database and analyzed in function of the positivity, median value and Spearman's correlation coefficients.Resultsamong the nursing care assessed, only two were considered safe - hygiene and physical comfort; nutrition and hydration - while the remainder were classified as poor. Nevertheless, the patients were satisfied with the care received in the domains assessed: technical-professional, confidence and educational. This can be justified by the weak to moderate correlation that was observed among these variables.ConclusionDespite the quality deficit, the patients' satisfaction level with the nursing care received was high. These results indicate that the institution needs to center its objectives on a continuing evaluation system of the care quality, aiming to attend to the patients' expectations.
This cross-sectional and quantitative study analyzed the knowledge of nursing professionals regarding Adverse Events (AE) in a hemodialysis unit of a teaching hospital. Data collection was performed between February and April 2011, based on interviews with 25 professionals. Data analysis identified 517 reports of 32 types of adverse events, of which the most commonly cited were: obstructed catheter, accidental withdrawal of the needle; and clotting of the extracorporeal system. Patient-related causes were mentioned in 42.8% of the reports. The main measures adopted were the implementation/ change of protocols and continuing education; the latter is the main suggestion for prevention. The results can contribute to a critical analysis of the quality of care in hemodialysis units, resulting in the development of interventions that help promote patient safety.
RESUMO:Este estudo focaliza questões da gerência nos serviços públicos de saúde e têm como objetivo identificar elementos do trabalho gerencial do enfermeiro na Rede Básica de Saúde de Goiânia-GO. Pesquisa exploratória descritiva, de base quantitativa, realizada entre 2006/2007. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizada a entrevista estruturada com 44 enfermeiros gerentes de serviços. Foi construído um banco de dados, utilizando o Software Epi-Info versão 3.3.2. Os dados foram submetidos a um processo de codificação e analisados por medida de frequência simples e nas variáveis que o enfermeiro pode discorrer utilizamos a categorização por semelhança. Os resultados apontam aspectos que fortalecem e tornam mais visíveis as ações gerenciais dos enfermeiros, ao mesmo tempo que mostram as fragilidades do trabalho gerencial na Rede Básica de Saúde. A contribuição dos enfermeiros gerentes foi de grande significado para que a formação seja repensada pelas universidades e pelos gestores. DESCRITORES:Gestão em saúde. Enfermagem em saúde pública. This exploratory, descriptive and quantitative study was carried out between 2006 and 2007. A structured interview was used for data collection and was composed of 44 service-manager nurses. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of no harm incidents and adverse events in a surgical clinic. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with a sample of 750 hospitalizations in the surgical clinic of a hospital in the mid-west region. A descriptive analysis was performed and the prevalence of incidents was calculated. Results: It was demonstrated that 615 hospitalizations were exposed to no harm incidents and 140 to adverse events. Of the 5,672 reported incidents, 218 were characterized as adverse events that caused harm to the patient. No harm was proven for the others; however, they highlighted the need for an adjustment to work processes. Conclusion: The prevalence of no harm incidents was estimated at 82%, and 18.7% for adverse events. ResumoObjetivo: Estimar a prevalência de incidentes sem dano e eventos adversos em uma clínica cirúrgica. Métodos: Estudo transversal conduzido com amostra de 750 internações ocorridas na clínica cirúrgica de um hospital da região centro-oeste. Realizou-se análise descritiva e calculou-se a prevalência dos incidentes. Resultados: Evidenciou-se que 615 internações foram expostas ao incidente sem dano e 140 ao evento adverso. Dos 5.672 registros de incidentes, 218 foram caracterizados como evento adverso por causarem dano ao paciente. Os demais não evidenciaram dano, entretanto apontaram necessidade de adequação dos processos de trabalho. Conclusão: Estimou-se prevalência de 82% de incidentes sem dano e 18,7% de eventos adversos.
The object of this study was to characterize the process of insertion in the Centros de Material e Esterilização - Center of Material and Sterilization (CME) of workers who have no specific formation in the area of Nursing. Seventy-five workers of two public hospitals took part in the study. After the observation of the legal ethical aspects, data was obtained through a questionnaire previously validated and tested. The study found 15 workers without specific formation, who came from different intra- and extra-hospital services. They had not been submitted to selection processes nor to training, and had learned the work routine with co-workers. This is worrisome, considering the worker's occupational risk, the risks this situation represents for the quality of the reprocessing of hospital items and the conformity to the legislation that governs professional practice.
O objetivo do estudo foi estimar a prevalência dos incidentes ocorridos durante cirurgias em um centro cirúrgico e analisar os tipos e causas das ocorrências. Estudo transversal, retrospectivo, tendo como fonte de dados 300 prontuários de pacientes submetidos a procedimentos cirúrgicos no período de julho a dezembro de 2013, em um hospital de ensino da região Centro-Oeste do Brasil. Um total de 26 incidentes foi encontrado, estimando prevalência de 8,7%. Incidentes relacionados à suspensão de cirurgia, perfuração de luvas, acidentes com paciente por falhas técnicas no procedimento e falhas técnicas no gerenciamento do serviço foram atribuídos à distração da equipe, falha na prescrição, pouco conhecimento, sobrecarga de trabalho e falha de organização do serviço. O estudo evidenciou a característica sistêmica e multifatorial do incidente e levantou indicadores que indicam a necessidade de melhorias no processo de gestão de materiais e recursos humanos.
RESUMO:A investigação objetivou identificar a ocorrência de incidentes percebidos pelos pacientes durante o período de internação hospitalar, analisar a opinião dos usuários sobre a ocorrência de incidentes e classificar os incidentes percebidos quanto ao tipo, causas e consequências. Estudo descritivo, transversal realizado por meio de entrevistas com 80 pacientes internados na clínica cirúrgica de um hospital de ensino, no ano de 2014, norteada por um instrumento validado. A exposição ao incidente foi percebida por 17,5% dos pacientes. Foram constatados 14 tipos de incidentes, sendo nove eventos adversos, quatro quase-erros e um incidente sem dano. Os mais perceptíveis ao paciente foram os decorrentes do processo de administração de medicamentos. Foi constatado que, apesar de inseridos no contexto da assistência, muitos profissionais ainda não reconhecem a importância do envolvimento dos usuários para a prevenção de incidentes, necessitando de ações educativas, com foco na segurança do paciente, para o empoderamento dos usuários. CONHECIMENTOS DE USUÁRIOS DE KNOWLEDGE OF USERS OF A SURGERY CLINIC ABOUT THE OCURRENCE OF INCIDENTSABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to identify the occurrence of incidents that are noticed by patients during their hospital stay, to assess users views of the occurrence of incidents, and to classify noticed incidents as to type, causes, and consequences. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted through interviews with 80 patients admitted to the surgery clinic of a teaching hospital in 2014, guided by a validated instrument. Exposure to an incident was noticed by 17.5% of patients. Fourteen types of incidents were noticed, with nine being adverse events, four near-misses, and one an incident with no damage. The most noticeable incidents to the patient were those resulting from the medication administration process. Although within the context of care, many professionals have not yet recognized the importance of involving users to prevent incidents. In addition, educational activities focusing on patient safety for the empowerment of users are required.
