Con indicadores relativos analizamos la dinámica de la producción y calidad científica de Colombia y México en el área de Ciencias Sociales (CS). Entre 2006 a 2017 estimamos la producción científica, la inversión en I+D, la cantidad de doctores graduados, la calidad científica por medio del porcentaje de revistas Q1 con autorías nacionales y el porcentaje de citaciones en revistas prestigiosas visibles en Scopus. Encontramos que la inversión en I+D, la producción científica y los graduados doctores de México son superiores a Colombia; sin embargo, Colombia superó a México en la eficiencia de la investigación. Ni Colombia ni México reportaron revistas en Q1 para CS, lo cual reflejó sus bajos niveles de indicadores de citación. Mostramos que el uso de indicadores relativos complementa al análisis bibliométrico tradicional.
Las dinámicas de colaboración científica visualizan la relación entre investigadores, instituciones y países, determinando estructuras de comunidades científicas. El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar las dinámicas de publicación a través de indicadores de colaboración a partir de datos obtenidos de los docentesinvestigadores de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia reportados en bases de alto impacto, que permiten caracterizar su perfil investigativo. Se aplican técnicas bibliométricas y análisis de redes. Se encontró que las dinámicas de colaboración fueron crecientes desde el 2008, con coautoría predominante internacional, y que existe correlación entre colaboración y productividad. Los resultados proporcionan a la comunidad académica un referente analítico para otros estudios, en otras universidades, tanto por los aspectos metodológicos como de sus resultados, potencializando la toma de decisiones en políticas institucionales en cuanto a investigación científica.
A la luz de la relevancia que ha ido adquiriendo esta disciplina científica en el ámbito académico e investigativo, este libro tiene como objetivo brindar fundamentos y aplicaciones prácticas sobre el uso e interpretación de técnicas bibliométricas, ilustradas a partir de bases de datos en el marco de investigación de estudios métricos. El libro proporciona una orientación inicial, fácil y funcional, para comprender conceptos y clasificaciones básicas, así como para vislumbrar el alcance y trascendencia que puede tener los estudios bibliométricos en la comunidad científica, en los investigadores que están en procesos de formación o los que ya tienen una trayectoria reconocida en una línea específica, o en el apoyo para tomar decisiones micro, meso y macro asociadas con políticas de ciencia, tecnología e innovación-CTeI. Conocer elementos de la bibliometría trasciende el ámbito métrico y toma importancia igualmente en los procesos de investigación en todos los niveles de formación, dado que permite generar un mejor alcance y estructura del estado de la cuestión y, por ende, su conexión con otros aspectos propios de la investigación, entre ellos para sustentar un buen marco teórico y metodológico. Entre otros elementos que invitan a realizar la lectura del texto, igualmente se resalta el hecho de combinar fundamentos conceptuales, técnicas y aplicaciones, mediante ejemplos con datos reales que ilustran los resultados obtenidos de las mismas investigaciones planteadas; además, la obra sigue una estructura en capítulos simple, no secuencial, y emplea un lenguaje asequible para los lectores, conocedores o no, del campo de las métricas científicas.
