o cuidado a pacientes de alta complexidade requer intervenções adequadas com o fito de se mitigar quaisquer consequências, resultantes da atuação das equipes de saúde, que podem ser consideradas como iatrogenias. Ademais, vale ressaltar que as iatrogenias influenciam negativamente a saúde do paciente, o que corrobora o aumento na permanência hospitalar e as chances de contaminação, além de elevarem os custos de financiamento da UTI. Nesse sentido, podese elencar algumas práticas iatrogênicas, como a realização de procedimentos desnecessários e invasivos, manipulação inadequada de medicamentos, quedas, além de perfis de pacientes com maior sensibilidade nas intervenções médicas, como idosos, recém-nascidos e doentes crônicos. Dessa forma, o presente estudo visa identificar as causas das iatrogenias no ambiente de terapia intensiva e as maneiras de se evitá-las presentes na literatura. Pôde-se identificar que as principais iatrogenias presentes na UTI estão associadas a medicamentos, à imprudência decorrente da sobrecarga de trabalho da equipe médica, à contaminação dos instrumentos utilizados e aos cuidados de saúde e procedimentos hospitalares. Sendo assim, ao identificar a etiologia iatrogênica, é factível tentar evitá-la, buscando prevenções.
