ABSTRACT This study is linked to the research Art, psychoanalysis and education:Aesthetical procedures in the cinema and the vicissitudes of childhood (FE-CEPAE/UFG, PUC/GO, UEG-Goiás, and UnB/Brasilia) and to the Study and Research Group on Education, Childhood, Art and Psychoanalysis -GEPEIAP/CNPq. Based on psychoanalytic theory, on the reflections of Giorgio Agambem and film theory, this article proposes a reflection regarding the intrinsic relation between childhood, language and the human condition in the feature film Behind the Sun (Abril Despedaçado, 2002), by Walter Salles, with a focus on the figure of Pacu. This reflection also points out to the need to consider the presence of the (in)visible and the (un)representable dimensions, constituting both the "traumatic experience of childhood" and the "human come-to-be", in the studies on childhood and cinema.
