Incidence of drug overdose during treatment of acute disease consequently leads to serious renal damage. As supporting treatment, administration of herbal medicine and food dietary are frequently developed. This research aimed to prove how the administration of avocado juice could lower the BUN and creatinine level in white rats induced with toxic doses of meloxicam. Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drug (NSAID), which is effectively used as an anti-inflamatory, analgesic, and antipyretic. Twenty four (24) male Wistar rats were assigned to 4 groups of six rats each (n=6). 1 ml of CMC 1% was administered to Control Group I, 30 mg/kgBB meloxicam and 1 ml of CMC 1% to Control Grup II, 30 mg/kgBB meloxicam and avocado juice 5 g/kgBB/day to Treatment Group I, and 30 mg/kgBB meloxicam and avocado juice 10 g/kgBB/day to Treatment Group II. The study was conducted over 8 days, then the level of Blood Urea Nitrogen and creatinine of the white rats were examined on the 1st and 8th day. The results were analyzed by Anova Two Way With Replication, then followed by T-test (α = 0,05) if there were difference. The Anova Two Way With Replication test showed that the mean of the four groups either the levels of Blood Urea Nitrogen or creatinine was significantly decreased (p<0,05). The decrease of BUN in the treatment group I was 27,17 27,17mg/dl and 17,83mg/dl while the decrease of creatinine level was 0,983mg/dl and 0,713mg/dl. The conclusion of this study was that avocado juice decreases level of Blood Urea Nitrogen and creatinine in white rats which exposed toxic doses of meloxicam.
Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is frequently administered to animals as an analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory medication. Meloxicam overdose and liver damage can occur if taken for an extended period of time without first consulting a veterinarian. Sukari dates extract can neutralize the effects of free radicals and protect the liver when taken orally. After being induced by a toxic dose of meloxicam, the purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the administration of sukari dates extract may reduce the profile of ALT and AST. 24 male wistar rats were used in this laboratory experiment, which was divided into four groups (n=6). Positive control group (K2) received 30 mg/kg BW meloxicam and 1% Na CMC, while treatment group 1 (P1) received 500 mg/kg BW sukari dates extract and 30 mg/kg BW meloxicam. Treatment group 2 (P2) received 1000 mg/kg BW sukari dates extract and 30 mg/kg BW meloxicam. The negative control group (K1) received 1% Na CMC. The study lasted for 12 days, and on the 12th day, blood samples were taken for analysis. The ALT profile decreased to 67.17 U/L and 63.00 U/L in P1 and P2, respectively, and the AST profile decreased to 142.83 U/L and 125.83 U/L. As a result, it can be concluded that toxic doses of meloxicam can cause sukari dates extract to reduce ALT and AST profiles.
Meloxicam merupakan obat golongan non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) yang sering digunakan dan diresepkan oleh dokter hewan karena memiliki sifat antiinflamasi. Namun, penggunaan meloxicam yang tidak sesuai dosis dapat menyebabkan efek samping yang kompleks pada sistem imun. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam meperbaiki sistem imun adalah dengan memberikan suatu imunostimulan. Buah kurma merupakan tanaman yang mengandung senyawa-senyawa aktif yang mempunyai efek imunostimulan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek imunostimulan esktrak kurma sukari pada tikus Wistar jantan yang diinduksi meloxicam dosis toksik. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 24 ekor tikus yang dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Kelompok kontrol negatif (K1) merupakan kelompok yang diberikan NaCMC 1%, kelompok kontrol positif (K2) merupakan kelompok yang diberikan NaCMC 1% dan meloxicam 30 mg/BB pada hari ke-11, kelompok perlakuan 1 (P1) merupakan kelompok yang diberikan ekstrak kurma sukari 500 mg/BB dan meloxicam 30 mg/BB pada hari ke-11, dan kelompok perlakuan 2 (P2) yang diberikan ekstrak kurma sukari 1000 mg/BB dan meloxicam 30 mg/BB pada hari ke-11. Pengambilan sampel darah yang akan digunakan untuk melihat nilai total leukosit dan diferensiasi leukosit dilakukan pada hari ke-12. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kurma sukari pada dosis 500 mg/kg dan 1000 mg/kg dapat memperbaiki dan menetralisir meloxicam dosis toksik dengan masingmasing nilai terhadap total leukosit yaitu 8.15 103/µL dan 8.22 103/µL, pada limfosit yaitu 66.83 % dan 72.50%, pada neutrofil yaitu 15.33% dan 23.67%, monosit yaitu 17.33% dan 3.50%. Sedangkan pada eosinofil dan basofil tidak memiliki efek yaitu dengan nilai masing-masing pada eosinofil 0.50% dan 0.33%, pada basofil yaitu 0.00% dan 0.00%. Ekstrak kurma mempunyai efek imunostimulan yang baik terhadap total leukosit, limfosit, neutrofil dan monosit, namun pada eosinofil dan basofil tidak memiliki efek yang signifikan.
