O ibuprofeno é um anti-inflamatório não esteroidal (AINE) com ação analgésica, antitérmica e anti-inflamatória, e atua como inibidor da ciclooxigenase (COX). Por ser um medicamento muito utilizado por diversas faixas etárias da população, faz-se necessário averiguar as condições de produção desse medicamento nos laboratórios. Através de uma rigorosa metodologia baseada na Farmacopeia Brasileira, pode-se avaliar o teor de concentração de princípios ativos presentes. O objetivo do estudo foi determinar o teor de ibuprofeno em cápsulas gelatinosas disponíveis comercialmente comparando com o preconizado pela ANVISA e verificar a padronização das bulas. O ibuprofeno foi determinado utilizando o método de titulação com hidróxido de sódio, descrito na Farmacopeia Brasileira. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que, das sete amostras analisadas, apenas quatro apresentaram teor de princípio ativo dentro do limite permitido pela agência reguladora, e todas cumpriram os requisitos exigidos pela legislação em relação às bulas.
