Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a pathogenic bacterium that has been resistant to various types of antibiotics, so it is not easy to be treated with antibiotics and needs other solutions. Javanese citronella oil distilled from the Cymbopogon nardus plant is proven to function as an antibacterial agent (bacteriostatic and bactericidal), fungicide and repellent. This study aimed to prove that there is a positive correlation between bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects with antibiofilm and anticolony spreading from Javanese citronella oil on MRSA. The intended antibiofilm is a barrier to biofilm formation and eradication. Bacteriostatic and antibiofilm effects were tested using microtiter plates assay, bactericidal effect test with subculture into the media and anticolony spreading effect test with spot inoculation in Tryptic Soy Broth media supplemented with 0.24% agar. The bacteriostatic effect test data were analyzed using paired t-test, bactericidal effect using the Friedman test, antibiofilm effect test using Kruskall-Wallis and the results of all the tests correlated using Pearson and Spearman correlation. The statistical significance used was p<0.05. The results showed that Javanese citronella oil had a bacteriostatic concentration of 0.02% (v/v) and bactericidal concentration of 0.78% (v/v). The Pearson correlation test showed that there was a negative correlation between bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects on biofilm formation with r=-0.956 (p=0.000), but the correlation was positive for biofilm eradication with r=0.918 (p=0.000) and anticolony spreading with r=1.000 (p=0.000).
Pharmacy is one of the health service place that has product and service activities that are highly dependent on patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction can be used as a benchmark for companies to develop their business in the future. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services at Kimia Farma Pharmacy Talangsari Jember. The type of this research was qualitative descriptive using cross sectional study. The population were patients who came to buy prescription or non-prescription drugs at the Kimia Farma Pharmacy Talangsari Jember in June 2020 with a total samples of 100 patients. The result showed that patient satisfaction to the services at Kimia Farma Pharmacy Talangsari Jember were quiet satisfied in reliability dimensions (60%) and tangible dimensions (55%) also in responsiveness dimensions (48%) and less satisfied in empathy dimensions (54%) and assurance dimensions (41%). It can be concluded that the level of patient satisfaction
Amoxicillin derivate compounds from the reaction of amoxicillin with p-aminophenol are synthesized compounds by reacting amoxicillin and p-aminophenol. . Escherichia coli is a flora normal bacteria that can causing infectious diseases. This research aimed to determine the antibiotic activity of amoxicillin derivat compound (amoxicillin with p-aminophenol) on the growth of E. coli. This research was conducted using the disc diffusion method. amoxicillin derivat compound (amoxicillin with p-aminophenol) were characterized by organoleptic test, melting point determination, pH test determination, Rf value, and maximum wavelength. The results of the organoleptic test showed that amoxicillin derivates from amoxicillin and p-aminophenol reaction is crystal powder, dark brown and bit bitter. Melting point of amoxicillin derivates from amoxicillin and p-aminophenol reaction was 160ºC. pH test of amoxicillin derivates from amoxicillin and p-aminophenol reaction was 6,5. Rf value of amoxicillin derivates from amoxicillin and p-aminophenol reaction was 0,79. The results of UV wavelength scanning showed that amoxicillin derivates from amoxicillin and p-aminophenol reaction at 295 nm. Antibiotic activity showed by the clear zone form around the paper disk. The results showed that E. coli was resistant to pure amoxicillin. Amoxicillin derivat compound (amoxicillin with p-aminophenol) with concentrations of 100% and 12,5% have the largest inhibitory zones (6,33 mm) compared with concentrations of 50% and 25%, 5,33 and 6,00 mm respectively. Based on these results it can be concluded that derivat compound of amoxicillin (amoxicillin with p-aminophenol) has antibiotic activity against the growth of E. coli that has been resistant to pure amoxicillin.
Fever is a condition often found in toddlers. Fever is a condition when the body temperature is above normal temperature (36-37ºC). The general objective of the study was to describe the level of knowledge of mothers in handling fever in children under fiveyears old in Suci village, Panti Jember district. The research used a descriptive design. Samples were taken by random samplingand obtained 81 mothers who have toddlers. This research instrument uses a questionnaire. The results showed that the level of mother's knowledge in handling fever in toddlers in the realm of know was 86%, in the realm of understand was 76%, and in the realm of application was 75%. It can be concluded that the level of mother's knowledge in handling fever in toddlers in Suci village, Panti Jember sub-district in the realm of know and in the realm of understand was a good criterion, and in the realm of application was a fairly good criterion.\Keywords: toddlers, fever, mother's knowledge level
Facial whitening cosmetics are preparations or combinations of ingredients that used on the outside of the body that serves to brighten or change skin color become white, clean and shining. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between knowledge and decisions exactness about facial whitening cosmetic products in teenage girls of Sumberpinang Village, Jember, (period of June 2022). The type of research conducted was descriptive research. the survey design was cross sectional. Sampling technique by using consecutive sampling which done by door to door. The total sample in this study was 70 respondents according to the criteria inclussion that has been determined. Bivariate analysis results with Kendall's correlation test obtained p value = 0,001 (p0,05),which means there was correlation between knowledge and decision on the selection of facial whitening cosmetic products in teenage girl. The correlation coefficient obtained was 0,386 which indicates weak correlation. It can be concluded that there was weak correlation between knowledge and decisions exactness about facial whitening cosmetic products in teenage girls of Sumberpinang Village, Jember (period of June 2022).Keyword : knowledge level, teenage girls, decisions exactness, face whitening cosmetic
