En la actualidad, los avances tecnológicos de la información y la comunicación (TIC) han causado un gran impacto en el área laboral, lo que obliga a las empresas a adaptarse a estos nuevos cambios y reformar sus modelos operativos. En tal sentido, nace el teletrabajo como la proporción de funciones relacionadas con un puesto que ejecuta un trabajador en un lugar alejado tanto de otros colegas como del centro físico principal de operaciones del empleador, utilizando diversas formas de TIC para mantener una presencia virtual. El objetivo fundamental del presente estudio es referenciar distintas fuentes que expliquen de manera general, cómo se concibe el impacto del teletrabajo en el ámbito de la Administración de Empresas. La investigación se clasifica como de tipo documental bibliográfica. Dentro de los resultados destaca dentro del impacto que puede producir el teletrabajo algunas ventajas tales como: menor necesidad de infraestructura, menos gastos, ya que el trabajador asume ciertos gastos, menos recursos en el control, horarios y demás de los trabajadores, mejor aprovechamiento de los puestos de trabajo, menor absentismo, menor conflicto entre trabajadores, entre los principales. Asimismo, se refieren algunas de sus desventajas como el caso de que este sistema de trabajo produce menos comunicación cara a cara, menos control sobre el empleado e inversiones cuantiosas en tecnología. No obstante, se concluye que dadas las bases óptimas para el desarrollo de esta modalidad de trabajo pueden trasmitir una imagen vanguardista, moderna y se tienen por visionarias, por cuanto brindan la opción a sus trabajadores de desempeñarse desde su casa u otro lugar de trabajo, rompiendo esquemas tradicionales y generando en el tele trabajador mayor confianza en la organización y sentido de pertenencia, que se traduce en una mayor productividad y eficiencia en los procesos administrativos.
