La pandemia actual -COVID19- ha llevado a muchos gobiernos a tomar medidas drásticas en respuesta a la crisis de salud global. Las medidas de bloqueo como respuesta a la crisis han frenado aún más las actividades económicas a nivel mundial. En este contexto destaca la importancia del papel de los emprendedores para acelerar la recuperación económica. Este trabajo se centra en analizar cómo los emprendedores enfrentan la situación causada por la COVID-19 a través de un estudio cuantitativo con una muestra de 236 emprendedores españoles ubicados geográficamente en la Región de Murcia. Los resultados muestran cómo los emprendedores han tenido que adaptarse a estas nuevas circunstancias enfrentándose a desafíos como la necesidad de digitalización, la falta de financiamiento, la disminución del capital humano o la percepción de nuevas oportunidades que se conviertan en negocios viables.
El año 2013, el observatorio global sobre actividad emprendedora GEM, presenta su octava edición en Murcia. Su principal misión es proporcionar datos acerca de la medición de la tasa de actividad emprendedora de las naciones, regiones y ciudades participantes, así como hacer un diagnóstico acerca del estado de las principales condiciones institucionales o del entorno para emprender.
Asimismo, GEM-Región de Murcia pretende que las instituciones y agentes relacionados con el emprendimiento en nuestra región dispongan de información de calidad e indicadores que permitan avanzar en materia de apoyo a la creación empresarial, contribuyendo al diseño de políticas públicas, concepción de nuevos productos financieros, remodelación de planes y sistemas educacionales entre otros aspectos, mostrando los puntos fuertes y débiles del entorno inmediato que enfrentan todas aquellas personas que tienen una idea o una iniciativa empresarial.
