Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar o conhecimento do câncer bucal por parte dos acadêmicos do Centro Universitário Maurício de Nassau, unidade Graças, buscando minimizar as dificuldades no reconhecimento do câncer bucal e as lesões orais potencialmente malignas. Foi realizada uma pesquisa observacional de caráter transversal, com abordagem quantitativa, entre alunos do 4º ao 10º período do curso de odontologia. Utilizou-se um questionário na plataforma Google Forms para coleta de dados. Para análise dos dados foram obtidas distribuições absolutas e percentuais, medidas estatísticas e medidas de associação. O resultado obtido em nosso estudo, demonstra um despreparo dos acadêmicos em reconhecer práticas de auto avaliação, bem como diagnóstico e orientação eficaz ao paciente, mesmo em períodos avançados do curso de odontologia. Foi possível constatar que o nível de conhecimento dos acadêmicos de odontologia do Centro Universitário Maurício de Nassau é insuficiente. A inconsistência de alguns achados reforça a importância do investimento em medidas e condutas que contribuam com a formação e capacitação do acadêmico odontologia.
INTRODUÇÃO: A Odontologia Minimamente Invasiva (OMI) visa a preservação e manutenção da saúde bucal por meio da realização de procedimentos minimamente invasivos e de acompanhamento periódico do paciente. OBJETIVO: Realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre a remoção químico-mecânica, utilizando do gel Papacárie Duo®. MÉTODO: Foram realizadas buscas nas bases de dados SCIELO, BVS e BIREME, no período de 2004-2020, de artigos, em português e inglês. RESULTADOS: O gel Papacárie, composto de papaína e cloraminas, atua no tecido dentinário infectado, preservando estruturas sadias, prevenindo a irritação e exposição pulpar. Sua ação químico-mecânica, reduz o desconforto do paciente e dispensa o uso de rotatórios evitando propagação de aerossóis, muito importante para minimizar chances de contaminação cruzada. CONCLUSÃO: o conhecimento e a aplicação de técnicas minimamente invasiva é de grande importância na clínica odontológica, devendo ser amplamente divulgadas e realizadas para maior preservação da estrutura e da vitalidade dental.
A utilização de ligas em níquel-titânio revolucionou a endodontia e fez com que os tratamentos endodônticos se tornassem ainda mais eficazes por provocarem menos alterações na antomia original do canal radicular. Com o surgimento de novos sistemas automatizados como Reciproc® (VDW GmbH, Munique, Alemanha) e Wave One® (Dentsply-Mailefer, Ballaigues, Suíça), esses sistemas logo ficaram conhecidos no mercado por apresentarem uma liga em NiTi melhorada e denominada M-Wire que elevou a flexibilidade e resistência desses instrumentos. Este estudo tem como objetivo avaliar as características das limas reciprocantes RECIPROC® (VDW GmbH, Munique, Alemanha) e WAVE ONE® (Dentsply-Mailefer, Ballaigues, Suíça) através de uma revisão de literatura. Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico nas bases de dados: BVS, Lilacs, Pubmed. Os critérios de inclusão foram artigos na integra, nos idiomas de português e inglês e que foram publicados no período de 2012 a 2021. Concluiu-se que os sistemas oscilatórios pesquisados se mostraram promissores, mas mais estudos ainda devem ser realizados para avaliar o desempenho de ambos, visto que foi lançado no mercado versões mais recente e melhoradas desses instrumentos.
