ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to estimate copper sulfate acute toxicity and to determine death percentage and environmental risk on guppy fish (Phallocerus caudimaculatus), zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio), mato grosso (Hyphessobrycon eques), and pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus). Fish were exposed to 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.10, and 0.30 mg L (pacu). Copper sulfate was extremely toxic for guppy, highly toxic for zebrafish and mato grosso and lightly toxic for pacu and presents environmental risk of high adverse effects on the guppy, zebrafish and mato grosso and moderate adverse effect to the pacu. Therefore, the guppy fish, zebrafish, and mato grosso are important alternatives for copper sulfate toxicity evaluation in waterbodies.Keywords: bioindicators, algaecide, toxicity.Ecotoxicidade aguda e risco ambiental do sultado de cobre para peixes tropicais . O sulfato de cobre foi classificado como extremamente tóxico para o guaru, altamente tóxico para o paulistinha e mato grosso e ligeiramente tóxico para o pacu e apresenta risco ambiental de elevado efeito adverso para o guaru, paulistinha e mato grosso e moderado efeito adverso para o pacu. Assim, conclui-se que o guaru, paulistinha e mato grosso são importantes alternativas para avaliação da toxicidade do sulfato de cobre em corpos hídricos.

-The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of glyphosate, as Rodeo ® formulation, to control Eichhornia crassipes, Pistia stratiotes, Salvinia molesta, Salvinia herzogii and Urochloa subquadripara, under greenhouse conditions. The doses assessed were (480, 960, 1440, 1920, 2400, 2880, 3360 and 3840 g ha ) displayed 100% effectiveness for all four macrophyte species. Under greenhouse conditions, the glyphosate in formulation Rodeo ® with 0.5% of Aterbarne ® BR surfactant showed excellent effectiveness, inhibiting the growth of the floating aquatic macrophytes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of application and the efficacy of control of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) with the use of the diquat herbicide done with two application volumes associated to three droplets classes. Three experiments were conducted; in the first, the application efficiency was evaluated; in the second, the control efficiency and; in the third, the droplet spectrum. They were conducted in a completely randomized design with five, four and six replicates, respectively. The treatments were arranged in a 2 x 3 factorial design, with two application volumes (100 and 200 L ha-1) and three droplets classes (fine, extremely coarse and ultra-coarse) to the first and second experiment and the third comprised two diquat concentrations in spray solution (2 and 4 g i.a. L-1) and three droplets classes (fine, extremely coarse and ultra-coarse). The application efficiency was determined by the coverage by droplets, spray deposition and active ingredient of the herbicide (diquat). The efficacy was measured by the control and the percentage of plants with regrowth at 50 days after application. The spectrum of droplets produced per each nozzle model used to obtain the droplets classes were analyzed. According to the parameters analyzed, using the droplets classes extremely thick and ultra thick can provide greater certainty in the application of diquat in the aquatic environment associated with the deposition of the active and sufficient coverage to control Eichhornia crassipes with both application volumes

RESUMO -O experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de analisar o crescimento e a distribuição de matéria seca e os teores e acúmulos dos macronutrientes em plantas de Urochloa arrecta cultivadas em condições padronizadas de nutrição mineral. As plantas cresceram em vasos de sete litros com substrato de areia, irrigados diariamente com solução nutritiva, e foram mantidas em casa de vegetação. Os tratamentos corresponderam às épocas de avaliação (21, 35, 49, 63, 77, 91, 105, 119, 133, 147 e 161 dias após a emergência -DAE) e foram arranjados em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições. Plantas de U. arrecta apresentaram baixo acúmulo (menor que 7% dos valores máximos acumulados aos 161 DAE) de matéria seca (5,1 g MS por planta) e de macronutrientes (57,7 mg N por planta; 8,9 mg P por planta; 167,8 mg K por planta; 21,3 mg Ca por planta; 14,7 mg Mg por planta; e 9,2 mg S por planta) até 49 DAE. Esses acúmulos se intensificaram principalmente após 91 DAE; a taxa diária de acúmulo foi crescente até 130 DAE (MS e S), 137 DAE (N), 125 DAE (P), 119 DAE (K), 144 DAE (Ca) e 128 DAE (Mg), quando houve acúmulo de 87,7 g MS por planta; 918,0 mg N por planta; 105,8 mg P por planta; 1.643,9 mg K por planta; 390,4 mg Ca por planta; 200,0 mg Mg por planta; e 103,5 mg S por planta. K e N foram os macronutrientes com os maiores teores e, consequentemente, mais requeridos e acumulados em maior quantidade nos tecidos vegetais de plantas de U. arrecta.Palavras-chave: braquiária-do-brejo, planta daninha, matéria seca, nutrientes. Plants of U. arrecta showed low accumulation (less than 7% of the maximum accumulation at 161 DAE) of dry mass (5.1 g DM per planta) and of macronutrients (57.7 mg N per planta, 8.9 mg P per planta, 167.8 mg K per planta, 21.3 mg Ca per planta, 14.7 mg Mg per planta, and 9.2 mg S per planta) up to 49 DAE. Such accumulations increased mainly after 91 DAE. Daily accumulation rate was crescent up to 130 DAE (DM and S), 137 DAE (N), 125 DAE (P), 119 DAE (K), 144 DAE (Ca), and 128 DAE (Mg), when there was accumulation of 87.7 g DM per planta, 918.0 mg N per planta, 105.8 mg P per planta, 1,643.9 K per planta, 390.4 mg Ca per planta, 200.0 mg Mg per planta, and 103.5 mg S per planta. K and N were found to have the highest rates and, hence, they were the most demanded and accumulated in the greatest amounts in U. arrecta plant tissues. ABSTRACT -The experiment was carried out aiming to analyze dry mass production and distribution, and the content and accumulation of macronutrients in Urochloa arrecta plants cultivated under mineral nutrition standard conditions.
