Jodfarbe in Abhangigkeit von verschiedenen Faktoren (Temperatur, Salzwirkung usw.) bei chemisch so verschiedenenstoffen wieStHrke und basischem Lanthansalz nicht zu erwarten und auch tatsachlich nicht vorhanden, trotz inancher aukrlichen Khnlichkeiten, die zunachst zu einer allgemeinen Behandlung a d rein kolloidchemischer Grundlage verfiihren konnen. Im AnschluQ an die Arbeiten von Th. C u r t i u s und F. S c h m i d t und von F. S c h m i d t iiber die E i n w i r k u n g v o n S u l f u r y l a z i d , SO&,, a u f a r o m a t i s c h e K o hle n w a s se r s t o f f e l) haben wir ein anderes, ebenf alls symmetrisch gebautes halbstarres Azid, das hochexplosive Azid der Rohlen saure, C a r b o n y l a z i d oder Stickstoffkohlenoxyd, N,.CO.N,, in seinem Verhalten gegen die R o h l e n w a s s e r s t o f f e Benzol, T o l u o l , p -X y l o l u n d p -Cymol untersucht 2, und konnten einen besonders eigenartigen, einzig dastehenden allgemeinen Reaktionsverlauf nachweisen, wie ihn K. F. S c h m i d t als Spezialfall bei der Einwirkung von Sulfurylazid auf Benzol aufgefunderi hat, wahrend p-Xylol mit letzterem Azid ein Ergebnis anderer Art lieferte.Carbonylazid, das einfachste alter Carbonazide, zeigt nicht etwa die C u r t iussche Umlagerung, die in diesem Fall zu einer Stickstoff-Bindung fuhren miiQte, sondern fuhrt die aromatischen Medien in Pyridic-Rasen uber. Als zweite Reaktion tritt nebenher Amin-Bildung auf, die, wie spater zu erortern sein wird, in der allgemeinen Giiltigkeit einer ,,Starren-Azid-Reaktion" ihre Erklarung findet. Jene hochst merkwurdige Umwandlung des isocyclischen Benzolrings in den heterocyclischen Pyridinring kann nur durch eine intramolekulare Umlagerung erklart werden. Sie mu13 ihren Grund in der grofleren Stabilitat des Pyridinrings und dessen besserer Valenzabsattigung haben.Die Reaktion wurde am genauesten und eingehendsten mit p X y l o l studiert. Es zeigte sich, daQ erhohte Reaktionstemperatm die Ausbeuten steigert . Daher wurden samtliche Versuche unter Druclr vorgenommen. Die Untersuchungen mul3ten infolge der hochexplosiven Eigenschaften des Carbazids mit gro13er Vorsicht ausgefuhrt werden, und deshalb wurde anfangs nur mit kleinen Mengen gearbeitet. Die sehr geringen Mengen an definierten Produkten, die diese in Glasbomben ausgefuhrten Versuche ergaben, machten es notwendig, mit groQeren Mengen Azid zu arbeiten und dementsprechend einen 1750 ccm fassenden, innen emaillierten, eisernen A u t o k l a v e n rnit Manometer, Kohlenwasserstoffe. l) I h .
