O objetivo deste artigo consiste em examinar os desdobramentos do processo de estatização da Southern Brazil Lumber and Colonization Company, culminando com a transformação de sua sede no Campo de Instrução Marechal Hermes. A abordagem considera o enfoque da História Social Inglesa – especialmente as noções sugeridas por Thompson – na perspectiva da reciprocidade entre a classe trabalhadora e as classes dominantes, além de suas relações com o Estado. Dentre os resultados do estudo, descreve-se: as mudanças na cultura organizacional da Lumber Incorporada após os militares assumirem o controle da administração; as aparentes irregularidades no processo de venda do acervo de bens da Lumber Incorporada; a suspeição acerca da atuação do então governador do estado de Santa Catarina, Irineu Bornhausen; a atuação com segundas intenções do empresário Alberto Dalcanale, que cedeu a área de terras da sede da Lumber Incorporada ao Ministério da Guerra; a agonia dos trabalhadores da Lumber Incorporada em longos períodos de atraso nos pagamentos de salários; o processo injusto de desapropriações de áreas de terras contíguas à Lumber Incorporada, para fins de composição do campo militar. Concluí-se que a presença da Lumber Company afetou decisivamente o curso dos eventos na região sob sua influência.
Embora transcorridos cem anos desde o término da Guerra do Contestado, fatores históricos que influenciaram a deflagração do conflito bélico ainda hoje permanecem gerando sérios entraves ao desenvolvimento territorial do Contestado. O objetivo deste artigo consiste em apresentar uma estratégia alternativa de desenvolvimento territorial, pautada na atividade turística e suscetível de aplicação no território do Contestado. A metodologia adotada focaliza o conceito de desenvolvimento territorial e considera um caso bem sucedido de território que viabilizou a atividade turística. Sob esta perspectiva, examina-se o caso do território de Castilha-La Mancha, que identificou, na obra universal de Miguel de Cervantes, Dom Quixote, potencial para implementação de estratégias de desenvolvimento territorial centradas na atividade turística. Amparando-se nas experiências do território de Castilha-La Mancha, conclui-se sobre a admissibilidade de aplicação, no território sob enfoque, de estratégias de desenvolvimento congêneres, fundamentadas no turismo histórico e em ativos materiais e imateriais do Contestado.
Resumo: O texto que segue desenvolve-se a partir de três eixos principais, tendo como referência a atuação da Southern Brazil Lumber and Colonization Company na região de Três Barras, no planalto contestado. O primeiro deles analisa o período anterior ao advento da companhia, elucidando a formação do modo de vida do sertanejo através de suas práticas e costumes. O segundo eixo analisa o impacto resultante da instalação da empresa e as peculiaridades desse processo, tal como a expulsão dos posseiros das terras recebidas pela * Professor na Universidade do Contestado (UnC).
A subárea do Desenvolvimento Regional está vinculada a área do Planejamento Urbano e Regional e Demografia no âmbito da CAPES. Esta área compreende 49 programas de Pós-Graduação, dos quais 25 estão ligados à área de Planejamento Urbano e Regional, 20 alinham-se ao tema do Desenvolvimento Regional e 04 vinculados à Demografia. Este artigo objetiva analisar os artigos publicados pelos pesquisadores Bolsistas Produtividade CNPq dos programas em Desenvolvimento Regional. Foram analisados os artigos publicados em periódicos dos estratos qualis A1, A2 e B1, classificados temas e principais questões abordadas. Dentre os 90 Bolsistas Produtividade CNPQ da área PLURD, 12 atuam no Desenvolvimento Regional. O grupo publicou 09 artigos em periódicos com classificação A1 e A2 e 25 artigos em periódicos com classificação B1. A análise fomentou a identificação dos principais pesquisadores, temas e questões abordadas, permitindo o aprofundamento da compreensão sobre o perfil desta área de concentração.
