Termos para indexação: propagação, reguladores vegetais, giberelina, Passiflora sp. EFFECT OF ARIL IN Passiflora alata SEED GERMINATION IN DIFFERENTS SUBSTRATES AND SUBMITED TO PREVIOUS GERMINATIVE TREATMENTS WITH GIBBERELLINABSTRACT -The objective of this work was to evaluate the germination seeds of Passiflora alata submitted to effect of aril presence in different substrates and previous germinated treatments. The work was conduced with two experiments (with and without aril) in a completely randomized design with 8 treatments, 5 replicates per treatment and 25 seeds, in a factorial scheme 2X4 (substrates x previous germinated treatments) for each experiment. The treatments were composed with the substrates gerbox and roll of paper, and the following previous germinated treatments: seeds soaked in GA3 and in water, paper infusion in GA3 and in water. The analysis of the data showed that the germination has improved when extracting the aril and administrating GA3 infusion in gerbox or roll of paper.

The cultivation system, the cultivars, the crop conditions and post harvest, can effect the conservation and quality of the grapes. This work aimed the evaluation of the affect of the time of storage (0, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days) and the storage temperature (1, 14 and 24ºC) in the quality of the grape "Niágara Rosada" pots harvest cultivated in the organic system. The limiting point for the storage was the high number of free berries observed, however the grapes still have quality for consumption, because observing without modification in the tenor of total soluble, the total titratable acidity and pH. Among the chemical assay, the determination of the tenor of total soluble solids, the total titratable acidity and the vitamin tenor C were the only ones which presented a decrease accentuated for the fruits stored at 24ºC, in a lower period of storage. The fruits stored at 14ºC up to 28 days did not show higher changes in their chemical characteristics and the grapes still have consumption quality and also for use in food industry. The best temperature of storage was 1ºC when grapes achieved 35 days with good quality.grape; organic system; storage; temperature.
The antioxidant and antibacterial activity and toxicity of natural products can change according to plant variety, as well as the part of the plant which is analyzed. In this study, peel, pulp and seed of four avocado varieties (Quintal, Fortuna, Margarida, and Hass) were analyzed for antioxidant and antibacterial properties and toxicity. There are few studies in the literature comparing these three first varieties. Antioxidant capacity was measured using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil), ABTS [2,2'-azino-bis- (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)], and FRAP (Ferric Reducing Ability Power) methods, along with the content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. Principal component analysis was applied for antioxidant tests. Antibacterial activity against food pathogens was assessed by the minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration tests. Toxicity was evaluated against Artemia salina and also by hemolytic activity. The ethanolic extract of Quintal variety peel presented the greatest antioxidant and antibacterial activity. This same extract showed no toxicity in the preliminary tests, and shows great potential for food industry application as an additive.
ABSTRACT'Ponkan' is one of the most produced tangerines in Brazil and very appreciated by Brazilian consumers. Having in view its acceptance, there is a concern in producing fruits of high quality. Among the factors that interfere with the quality of the fruits, we can mention, as an example, the solar radiation. This work had the aim of evaluating the physical and chemical characteristics of 'Ponkan' tangerine (Citrus reticulata Blanco), cultivated in the west of Paraná and harvested in two quadrants of the plant, one of higher solar incidence (east-west) and the other of lower incidence (north-south). The physical analyses were the weight of the fruit, peel, and segment, as well the transverse and longitudinal diameter. In the chemical assay we evaluated the pH, content of total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acidity (TTA), TSS/TTA ratio and content of ascorbic acid. It was verified by the results obtained, that the fruits that grew at the quadrant east-west of the plants, where a higher solar incidence occurs, presented higher weight (212.86 g) and longitudinal diameter (74.42 mm) when compared to fruits of the quadrant of lower solar incidence (180.30 g and 67.75 mm, respectively). However, regarding the chemical characteristics, no difference was observed which could interfere with the flavor of the fruits.
