This paper presents the application of machine learning in the control of the metal melting process. Metal melting is a dynamic production process characterized by nonlinear relations between process parameters. In this particular case, the subject of research is the production of white cast iron. Two supervised machine learning algorithms have been applied: the neural network and the support vector regression. The goal of their application is the prediction of the amount of alloying additives in order to obtain the desired chemical composition of white cast iron. The neural network model provided better results than the support vector regression model in the training and testing phases, which qualifies it to be used in the control of the white cast iron production.
On the way to building smart factories as the vision of Industry 4.0, the casting process stands out as a specific manufacturing process due to its diversity and complexity. One of the segments of smart foundry design is the application of artificial intelligence in the improvement of the casting process. This paper presents an overview of the conducted research studies, which deal with the application of artificial intelligence in the improvement of the casting process. In the review, 37 studies were analyzed over the last 15 years, with a clear indication of the type of casting process, the field of application of artificial intelligence techniques, and the benefits that artificial intelligence brought. The goals of this paper are to bring to attention the great possibilities of the application of artificial intelligence for the improvement of manufacturing processes in foundries, and to encourage new ideas among researchers and engineers.
This paper presents the application of CAD/CAE/CAM systems at the improvement of the manufacturing the flotation balls for grinding ore. Flotation balls need to satisfy the appropriate requirements in terms of dimensional, chemical, mechanical and physical properties. These properties are directly related to technology of ball manufacturing, in this case -permanent-mold casting technology. Software tolls from the group of CAD/CAE/CAM systems were used for designing the casting parts, casting and feeding systems, mold and simulation of permanent-mold casting process. Based on results of casting process simulation the casting process in real industrial conditions was realized. After the casting process, testing of casting parts has been performed. The testing gave satisfactory results, so the presented methodology, based on CAD/CAE/CAM systems, is acceptable for manufacturing program in foundry.

Koncept obuhvata virtuelnu proizvodnju, praktičnu realizaciju uspostavljenog tehnološkog procesa i konačnu proveru kvaliteta odlivaka tj. reznih elemenata bagera. Primenom prikazane metodologije proizvodnje skraćuje se vreme razvoja novog proizvoda i njegove proizvodnje u odnosu na tradicionalne metode testiranja prototipova.
This paper examines the software development in Serbia, as a subsection within the IT domain. The objective is to identify and propose the high level government policies which stimulate development and growth of this space. We identify issues and provide recommendations for improvement. First, we examine the number of software developers and forecast its growth based on the increased number of IT graduates. Second, we focus on the workforce formal education and demonstrate that Serbian software developers have similar competency levels compared to the world average. Furthermore, we focus on the legal treatment of the workforce and explain the differences between two models: (1) agency model based on consulting services contracts - this model treats the workforce as entrepreneurs, and the (2) classical model based on employee contracts - this model treats workforce as employees. To conclude the analysis, we provide three main recommendations – the government should: (1) equalize the tax treatment of workforce in the IT sector, (2) motivate expat Serbian IT experts to return to Serbia, and (3) modernize the education system in line with the requirements of the IT sector.
Paper will present algorithm for program and estimation of the vertical thermo-siphon re-boiler, using the FORTRAN77 programming language that is based on the method of Sarm and al. Unlike previously proposed approaches and the literature this method in the estimation of the pressure drop in pipes apparatus, takes into account the mechanism of the two-phase flow. The results of the program are analyzed in detail and discussed in the exploitation of real examples.
