The National Policy on Education stipulated that there is need for equality of educational opportunities to all Nigerian children, irrespective of any real or imagined disabilities, each according to his or her ability. It further stressed that there will be the provision of equal access to educational opportunities for all citizens of the country at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels both inside and outside the formal school system. In spite of this policy commitment there still exists a wide gender disparity in university education in Nigeria. Therefore, this paper examines the concepts of gender and university education. Also, the paper highlights participation in university education by gender and locates the gender participation disparity barriers in university education in Nigeria. The paper concludes by identifying some intervention that can help close the existing gap between male and female in access to university education in Nigeria.
A lot of inputs have gone into the creation and establishment of supervisory unit through organization and planning in our educational system. These inputs have been channeled towards the purpose of realizing the stipulated goals and objectives in the National Policy on Education. Thus, a quality school must provide its students with sufficient, current and detailed content in every subject areas. To do this effectively, the teachers have to utilize the appropriate teaching methods and materials that will enhance improved instructional materials, hence the urgent need for instructional supervision in the school. Instructional supervision must, therefore, be efficiently created and properly mapped out to help interaction that will foster quality improvement in the process of teaching and learning. This paper examines instructional supervision, quality education and the do's and don'ts of effective and quality supervision of instruction. The paper also examine instructional supervision as catalyst for quality improvement in secondary schools. Finally, the paper concludes that there should be modalities in place to ensure inspectors of the Ministry of Education monitor school heads to ascertain their appropriate use of the various techniques of instructional supervision in secondary schools.
The goals of tertiary education which include the university, are well spelt out in the National Policy on Education. One of the basic characteristic of academic necessity motivating the founding of universities is the need to develop and maintain established academic discipline or areas of knowledge and investigation so as to produce intellectuals, researchers, among others. One way to achieve this was to resist tendencies or development that tends to erode their academic freedom and autonomy. Obviously, universities with predominant academic focus tend to guard their freedom and autonomy very jealously and so remain impervious to new development that tends to erode it. The paper, therefore, examine the concepts of freedom and autonomy. The paper equally examines the indispensability of freedom and autonomy to universities. Also, the paper highlights the issues of erosion of university academic freedom and institutional autonomy in Nigeria. Finally, the paper recommends that government should ensure that universities are managed in line with their statutory laws and acts. In this way each organ of the university such as governing councils, senate, faculties, departments among others will carry out their laid out functions successfully, thus reducing the realities that may have limit university freedom and autonomy.

Efficient human resources management in any human organization has a tremendous impact on employer's morale, achievement of organizational goals and maximal productivity. Thus, the degree to which an organization achieves its goals depends greatly on how the human resources are effectively managed and utilized. Therefore, this paper examines the concept of human resources management, rationale for human resources management and the relevance of human resources in tertiary institutions. Finally, the paper discusses how best human resources could be managed and maintained to enhance personnel efficiency in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
