Synopsis : Activation analysis has developed as one of trace element analysis. Atom of analyte is activated with nuclear reactions by neutron from nuclear reactor, charged particle from an accelerator or photon from an accelerator. Radiations from activated nuclides are measured with a gamma spectrometer, and determined with compare of the standard. These methods are called as neutron activation analysis (NAA), charged particle activation analysis (CPAA) or photon activation analysis (PAA), respectively. And prompt gamma-ray analysis (PGA) and neutron depth profiling (NDP) measuring prompt gamma-rays and prompt charged particles, respectively, from nuclear reactions with low energy neutrons are able to be used. In the field of iron and steel, the numbers of applications for activation analysis are a few except NAA. This paper reviews applications of NAA and CPAA for various iron and steel and reviews principles and characteristics, analysis systems and analytical methods, as well as applications of PGA and NDP.
This study aims to develop the traceability system for fishery product in order to enhance the reliability and safety of fishery product. In this system, the QR-code is attached to the products when they are shipped as an information media that is more affordable than IC-tag. And consumers can read this QR-code by cellular phone with camera function, and the information of the products could be easily took out. In this study, proof examination for utilizing this system was carried out by using cultivated flounder. As a result, the system demonstrated the information about the product and distribution process by cellular phone.
In recent years, fishery operators have been facing problems such as decreasing fishery incomes, price drops caused by imported marine products, mergers and labor shortage of fishermen's unions and the delay of the introduction of information technologies to fishing villages. Additionally, there are demands for higher added value of marine products and the simplification of procedures. It has also been pointed out that areas considered remote in terms of transportation, including isolated islands and Hokkaido, may be at a disadvantage with regard to the trading of marine products in the future, since both the merger and the abolition of marine product markets is expected. In this study, (1) database, (2) data mining (preference information selection system) and (3) encounter-support agent (interactive preference search system) were developed to improve the speed and efficiency of the distribution of these marine products, increase their added value and promote the development of fishing communities. From the viewpoint of the safety and security of marine products, a simple traceability system using QR codes (two-dimensional codes) was also introduced to establish a distribution system to give new added value to marine products. Marine products were then distributed for demonstration and the subsequent economic ripple effect was evaluated by inter-industry relations analysis
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
