A precise and selective liquid chromatographic procedure for determining inositol hexanicotinate (IHN) in formulated preparations was developed and validated. IHN was dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide, diluted with acetonitrile, chromatographed on a Nova-Pak C18 column with a mobile phase of water-methanol (40 + 60, v/v), and detected at 262 nm. The correlation coefficient of the calibration curve was 0.9995 over the range 0.050.15 mg/mL. Overall recovery of IHN was >97%. Coefficients of variation for intra- and interday precisions were <2%.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
