A manufacturing based organization operates in an environment where a fast and effective decision is needed. This is to ensure that the output is met with customer compliance. There exists manufacturing systems that collect the operational data and the data turns out to be in a high volume due to the state of the art of the abundant manufacturing operational data. Having a lot of data without the tool to analyze and extracting valuable information from it, increases the amount of time spent by employees focusing on the data itself. This eventually leads to a delay in a decision making process, resulting in a delay of products delivery to customer. To fill in this gap, a Business Intelligence (BI) implementation will be reviewed, with the aim to execute the right action at the right time or in other words, to improve the decision making process of an organization.
MOOC is a national agenda in the institutions as it is addressed in the 11th Malaysian Plan, the National Economic Model, Economic Transformation Programme and the Malaysian Education Blueprint. Recently, have witnessed the development of massive open online courses (MOOCs) as a learning trend in the field of open distance education and online learning. As it is considering new technology for us, a research towards its acceptance is essential. This study examines the adoption of MOOC deployment among students at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The survey was used in this research where data were collected from 400 respondents and then analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings were obtained based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. The result shows that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating condition have influenced the respondents to use MOOC in their learning. This research exposed that the UTAUT factors implemented in this study have a significant effect to behavioural intention in order students use MOOC technology. It illustrates the positive impact of these technologies and beneficial to understand the MOOC adoption for all students, especially at public universities and in the area of online learning perspective.
Naturally, MOOC or Massive Open Online Course is a course design for a distance learner. The platform which is provided by Open Learning is a course that's open anywhere as learner connected with all the equipment needed and of course the Internet speed is a major concern. The growth of the Internet and all sorts of devices such as computers, notebook, and tab has made learning more effective and fun for everyone. Thus, MOOC becomes a popular method of e-learning as it can provide the material of the course accessible by everybody, not only for a distance learner, but most of higher educational institution has taken for granted the benefit of these platforms. This paper attempted to discuss the definition and a brief history of MOOCs and observes it from various dimensions of issues: pedagogical, technological implementations and challenges in the digital era. Therefore, literature reviews on MOOCs model and characteristics, a timeline of its development and a practical concern with the involvement of well-known MOOCs providers are presented.
eLearning is a medium which is commonly implemented to provide learning module between instructor and learner through distance. In this era of digital technology, learning should be simplified, practical and can be provided in a holistic manner. eLearning is cost-effective as compared to traditional forms of learning. The reason for this price reduction is because learning through this mode happens quickly and easily. A lot of training time is reduced with respect to trainers, travel, course materials, and accommodation. Surprisingly, most institutions provide the method of distance learning instead of a physical classroom or face-to-face as a modern strategy in the learning environment. But yet, institutions need to prepare all sorts of things in order to take the challenges. In Malaysia, the MOOC initiative has been implemented a few years ago as a blended learning method and continued until now especially in Higher Learning Institutions. The technology of MOOC has sparkling the learning concept into a very interesting medium of learning between learner and instructor. Thus, the Khan eight-dimensional framework has been applied in this study in order to discuss the MOOC initiatives, including the brief history of MOOC, technological structure and learning design as a new technology for enhanced learning in the 21st century and beyond.
Business Intelligence (BI) offered many advantages to organizations adopting the system such as improved decision making and boost organization’s performance. The lack of research on the continuous usage of BI in manufacturing motivates the initiative in this study to have an understanding of the determinants that influenced it. The study proposed a model of individual-related determinants that lead to the continuous usage of BI in manufacturing. A model integrating Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Information System Continuance Model (ISCM) will be developed. The model will portray 20 hypotheses and 11 determinants leading continuance usage of BI. Data will be collected through survey questionnaires instrument and validated using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The result is hoping to show significant relationships between the determinants towards the continuous usage of BI in manufacturing. The study can potentially be used to guide manufacturers and practitioners for considerations in implementing BI in the manufacturing industry.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
