During the past three years, Malaysian Islamic banking Institutions' (IBIs) asset has shown an aggressive growth of 13%. Furthermore, Malaysia is currently focusing to become the world hub leader in Islamic banking. Hence, these two factors have increased the competitiveness among IBIs to find qualified talents in various fields to be attracted. Despite abundant new talents in the job market, the IBIs could not attract the qualified or right talent into their institutions. This paper attempts to identify an appropriate EVP for new Malaysian IBIs talents to attract qualified talents. To do so, a study is conducted with a structured interview of the questionnaire. The questionnaires were evaluated by a group of Malaysian graduates on the required EVP for IBIs. The results indicate that basic salary, employee benefit package and flexible working hours play an important role for talent shortage.
Poverty is highly associated with many negative measurable aspects of life. Therefore, it is often regarded as a sign of failure. One of the arguments that prove this premise is that poverty is closer to disbelief. By rejecting doubt to preserve religion, a group that adheres to its logical religion will avoid poverty. Poverty in Kelantan shows the opposite. In a state of extreme religious adherence in terms of understanding, beliefs, and practices, more than half of the poor in Kelantan are hardcore poor. At the same time, the hardcore poor and the poor in Kelantan have the highest number in Peninsular Malaysia. This paper aims to study the relationship between poverty and religiosity in Kelantan. About 3,000 poor in ten provinces in Kelantan selected as respondents through stratified sampling. This study has demonstrated the true definition of poverty which includes the element of soul. It is clearly different from current definitions that focus more on property ownership.
In this era of knowledge-based economy, intellectual capital (IC) is considered as a critical component in an organizational effort to emphasize on accomplishing competitive advantages and enhancing value added for the organization. Besides concentrating only on new product innovations, small and medium enterprises should also be engaged in managing IC in accordance to Islamic teachings. An understanding to Islamic ethics and its upshots for superior performance facilitates entrepreneurs in managing IC strategically. This paper aims to re-scrutinize several contributions in Islamic ethics and IC in SME entrepreneurial researches, ascertain the main elements of IC as well as Islamic work ethics (IWE); and thus show how IWE is relevant for research in the area of IC.
