The 2017 of Jakarta Election is not only enlivened by the comments of politicians and experts , but also followed by the general public in a critical, obscene, and massive way. This study aimed to reveal the ideology in public opinions about the discourse of Jakarta election at social media. This research used qualitative-descriptive approach with content analysis method, and based on the critical discourse analysis theory by Norman Fairclough. The result of the research showed (1) about 57.4% of public opinions represent ideology of Islamic religion by raising the issue of the importance of Aqeedah, Sharia, and morals for leaders, through vocabularies like the similar faith, fellow moeslems, humane, and dirt, (2) a number of 34.8% show the ideology of secularism with the issue of electing the government leaders not a religious leader through the use of vocabularies such as performance, don’t, clean, not corrupt; while (3) just 7.8% represent the ideology of liberalism with the issue such as no offense for the public to choose their leader through the use of vocabularies such as freedom, logical thinking, realistic, and common sense.
This research aims to describe the influences of TPS model and reading interest of class VIII student of SMP Negeri 31 Padang about their skills of writing explanatory text. This research type is quantitative research with 2x2 factorial experiment design. The population of this research is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 31 Padan. The data collects by using two methods. The analysis and discussion of the data apply descriptive-analysis method in accordance with the concept of experimental research. Based on the research the writer concludes that from explanatory text writing, the students who have high reading interest and low reading interest whom applies TPS model have higher reading interest than the students that using conventional learning methods. Furthermore, there is no interaction between TPS model with reading interest in influencing the learning outcomes of the students' in explanatory text writing skills.
This article aims to reveal philosophy level from axiology (use) of literature in the society of Minangkabau’s superstition viewed from cultural manifestation. This research is a content analysis researh using descriptive qualitative method. The research was done in 10 places in Luhak Kubuang Tigo Baleh Minangkabau namely Salayo, Cupak, Gantuang Ciri, Guguak, Koto Anau, Muara Paneh, Kota Solok, Talang, Panyangkalan, dan Kinari.The data in this research is the statements of superstition in KubuangTigoBaleh society which is obtained from observation and indepth interview withpenghulu, cerdik pandai, and alim ulama. In analyzing the data, the research usedMiles danHubeman’s modelsthrough three steps (1) data reduction, (2) data display and (3) conclusion. Based on the findings it can be concluded that There are four patterns of superstition, namely negative, positive, prediction and witchcraft pattern. Moreover, in the process of pattern meaning the lofty ethic values are framed and considered as local wisdom of the Minangkabau society, especially in KubuangTigoBaleh which is appropriate, well-mannered, educated and existence acknowledged as a belief.
Jakarta Election 2017 was a phenomenal one from many points of views including aspect of language use as political tool. Therefore, this study aims to describe the politeness level of politicians in the discourse of Jakarta election 2017 at online portal news. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive method. Analyzing the data was exercised by content analysis method with the application of language politeness theory from Brown-Levinson and Leech. Based on data analysis, politicians are more dominant to convey their ideas through a rhetorical style of irony, expressive speech acts, and vague strategies; they also tend to violate rather than adhere to the politeness principle so, it was ‘high potential’ to threaten the face of the intended person or party. Based on the findings of this research, the level of language politeness performed by politicians in Jakarta Election is represented in three divisions; about 48% of comments of the politicians are at an ‘impolite’, 15% are at ‘less polite’ level, and only 36% are in the ‘polite’ category.
Minangkabau is one of the hundreds of cultures that exist in Indonesia. As a community, ethnic Minangkabau have moral teachings, values and societal norms. Those values, ethnics, and behaviors regarded as a source of policy in a community‘s life is called as local wisdom. Literature work is a product of wisdom that is able to provide enlightenment for those who appreciate it. Literature can be defined as manifestation of one‘s cultural expression and reflection. Thus, literature may enrich the life of the readers through reading, writing, listening and discussing it. It may directly or indirectly enrich life of the readers through experience enlightenment and problems issued in one work of literature as well as its solution. In this study, the Minangkabau local wisdom content can be one of guidance in life. This study is pursuant to the theory of literature sociology which regards literature as manifestation of cultural experience as well as reflection of social-cultural reality. Based on the study, it is found that the content related to the local wisdom in modern short stories written by Minangkabau authors discusses five particular local wisdom. The first one related to life philosophy of Minangkabaunese; standing for what is right and enemies will never be challenged, yet they will not be avoided when they come. The second one is local wisdom based on Minangkabaunese‘s social life like giving advice, teachings, helping others, saving the earnings, taking a lesson from others‘ experiences, and preserving the natural sacred surroundings. The third one is local wisdom related to local ceremony or traditional ceremony. This ceremony will be a forum for the local people to train their diplomatic skills and local cooperation. The forth is local wisdom belonging to local principles, norms, and regulations which are actuated in social system. These can be reflected to in Minangkabaunese behaviours who are always becoming hard worker, never be proud of their belongings and ability, making advantage of their natural surroundings, sharing intra-marriage system and respecting women. The fifth is local wisdom which is based on tradition, daily basis social attitude, namely; ways of living in a community, waiting for children with traditional foods, provide assistance for construction of public facilities, helping others and returning home when Ramadhan month is coming.
