Coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19) poses a significant challenge for the society. One of such social groups are academic teachers. The aim of this study is to become acquainted with the perceived difficulties of Polish academic teachers connected with the COVID-19 pandemic and to assess the importance of resilience in perceiving these difficulties. One hundred and one (n = 101) Polish academic teachers completed the Scale of Perceived Difficulties Associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic SOTCov19 (NA) and the Resilience Assessment Scale SPP-25. The descriptive statistics, correlation analysis (Pearson's correlations coefficient), and progressive stepwise regression analysis were used. The study shows that Polish academic teachers experience the greatest difficulties in three areas: recreational and cultural aspect, health and care aspects, and remote working -online lessons. A significant correlation between included variables was obtained. It is also well worth mentioning that the two subscales of resilience -tolerance for failure and treating life as a challenge, and personal competence to deal with and tolerance of negative emotions -entail a predictive function in explaining the perceived difficulties, however the percentage of variance is low, unlike expected.

The present study aimed to investigate the indirect effect of appraisal of disability on the relationship between basic hope and coping strategies in women with long-term spinal cord injury (SCI), taking into account the moderating role of general self-efficacy. A cross-sectional study with 187 women with paraplegia was conducted. Main outcome measures, the Coping Orientations to Problems Experienced (COPE), the Basic Hope Inventory (BHI), Appraisals of Disability Primary and Secondary Scale (ADAPSS), and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), were used. Our study showed that the strategies most commonly used by participants are seeking emotional support, religion, and acceptance. More than 45% of the respondents reveal average levels of basic hope, 58.82% reveal high levels of general self-efficacy, and most of them assessed their disability as determined resilience while noticing its negative aspects. The indirect effect of disability appraisal on the relationship between basic hope and coping strategies (denial, focus on emotions, seeking emotional support, religion, and acceptance) was confirmed. The moderating role of general self-efficacy in this analysis of mediating was also confirmed. General self-efficacy plays a significant role in explaining the relationship between basic hope and coping strategies mediated by appraisals of disability in women with long-term SCI.

Interpersonal relationships among women with spinal cord injury are limited due to numerous barriers. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of disability acceptance in terms of the quality of social relationships among women with spinal cord injury. Social relationship quality was conceptualised as a construct that included two indicators, namely strength of relationship and social support. Ninety (N=90) women with spinal cord injury completed the Strength of Interpersonal Relationships Questionnaire (Zbieg and Słowińska, 2015), Social Support Scale (Kmiecik-Baran, 1995), and Multidimensional Acceptance of Loss Scale (Byra, 2017). Such methodological tools as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis (Pearson’s correlation coefficients) and progressive stepwise regression analysis were used. The study showed that the most important value for the surveyed women was the time devoted to relationships. The most frequent kinds of received support were informational and emotional. In addition, the most common change in the perception of disability acceptance was the containment of its effects and a transformation from comparative value to asset value. A significant correlation between the included variables was observed. It is also well worth mentioning that the two subscales of disability acceptance entailed a predictive function in explaining social relationship quality; however, the two subscales explained a surprisingly low percentage of observed variance. It is reasonable to suggest other ways of explaining this phenomenon.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic significantly changed the functioning of people around the world, one facet of such modifications was higher education. In addition to the classic stressors, there were new challenges that students coped with. Research Aim: This research aims to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being exploring the moderating effect of perceived positive changes in functioning in students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The diagnostic survey and questionnaire technique were used. Main outcome measures, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, Scale of Positive Changes in Student Functioning in the COVID-19 Pandemic, and Psychological Well-Being Scale were used. Results: Significant and positive correlations were found between included variables. The obtained results show that the relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being are moderating by perceived positive changes in functioning in students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The findings presented in the study provide an important rationale to pay special attention to the psychological well-being of students during the COVID-19 pandemic and its direct and indirect determinants.

The aim of this study was to examine the contribution of the sense of self-dignity in accounting for the variability of psychological well-being in women with insulin resistance. The sample consisted of 109 women diagnosed with insulin resistance. The associations between the variables were examined using correlation and regression analyses. The study found significant relationships between dimensions of the sense of self-dignity and psychological well-being in the surveyed women. The loss dimension of the sense of self-dignity had the highest contribution in accounting for all the dimensions of psychological well-being. Although weaker than for the loss dimension, a statistically significant contribution was also found for the total score of the sense of self-dignity in the surveyed women with insulin resistance.
