In the paper results of evaluation of using statistical methods for data agglomeration were made. For determination of hydrological homogeneous regions characterized by low flow and selected physiographic and meteorological features of the catchments cluster analysis was used. The study material included daily flows from the multi-year period of 1963-1983 collected for 15 catchments located in the upper Vistula basin. Low flows were quantified by Q 95% , i.e. the discharge that is exceeded on 95% of all days of the measurement period. This low flow characteristic is widely used in Europe and was chosen due to its relevance for multiple choices of water management. Then, Q 95% was subsequently standardized by the catchment area and resulting specific low flow discharges q 95 dm 3 • s-1 • km-2. The calculations and their analysis showed that, statistical methods of data agglomeration may be used for determination of hydrologically homogeneous regions. And with use Ward's method with cutoff level at 40% two homogeneous regions were identified.
In the paper the possibility of using statistical method for data agglomeration, i.e. nonhierarchical cluster analysis for low flow grouping was made. The study material included daily flows from the multi-year period of 1963-1983 collected for 19 catchments, located in the upper Vistula basin. Regions with the same flow were determined with the use of nonhierarchical cluster analysis (K-means). Groups were characterized by low flow and selected physiographic and meteorological features of the catchments. The procedure of catchments assigning to the clusters was started from two clusters and finished at five. The next moving and assigning of catchments into clusters resulted in a cluster in which there was only one catchment (for five clusters). Another objects' delineation did not give an objective effects, based on which it was difficult to determine a clear criterion of assigning each catchments into the clusters. The last step involved development of the models reflecting correlation and regression relationships. The identified clusters comprised catchments similar in terms of unit runoff, watercourse length, mean precipitation, median altitude, mean catchment slope, watercourse staff gauge zero, area covered by coniferous forests, arable lands, and soils.
The aim of the study is to compare direct outflow from storm events estimated using modifications of original SCS-CN procedure. The study was conducted in a mountainous catchment of Kamienica river and a highland catchment draining Stobnica river located in Upper Vistula water region, both in Poland, and a headwater lowland watershed WS80 located at the Santee Experimental Forest in South Carolina, USA. For estimating the event outflows for the Kamienica and Stobnica River basins, the initial data on observed rainfall-runoff events for years 1980-2012 were obtained
Streszczenie. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki oceny stanu technicznego budowli hydrotechnicznej -jazu z zamknięciami ruchomymi, zlokalizowanego w Szczyglicach w km 8+800 rzeki Rudawy.
This article reports the heavy metal concentrations assessed both in bottom sediments and water flowing into two small reservoirs at Krempna and Zesławice, southern Poland. The experiments were carried out in spring, summer, autumn and winter 2010-2011. The resulting concentrations of lead, cadmium, nickel, chromium and copper were compared with the Environmental Quality Standards, guidelines of the Regulation of the Minister of Environmental Protection, regulations of the Polish Geological Institute and State Institute of Environment Protection, Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation, and with the regulations adopted in Germany, Denmark, the United States and Canada. Regarding the total heavy metal concentrations, water flowing into the examined reservoirs was not polluted. The highest concentrations of heavy metals were found in water flowing into the reservoirs in spring and summer. The heavy metal concentrations in sediments of the reservoirs at Krempna and Zesławice were much higher than the concentrations of the elements discussed present in waters flowing into these reservoirs.
Streszczenie. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów geodezyjnych i hydrometrycznych oraz obliczeń wykonanych w celu opracowania krzywej natężenia przepływu w przekroju Dłubni, zlokalizowanego w kilometrze 10+247.
