Objetivo: comparar a motivação, autoestima e insatisfação corporal de idosas praticantes de hidroginástica em função das variáveis sociodemográficas. Materiais e métodos: pesquisa transversal a qual participaram 70 idosas, que responderam a escalas de Autoestima de Rosemberg e Silhueta de Stunkard e o Exercise Motivation Inventory-2. Os dados foram analisados por meio dos testes Kolmogorov-Smirnov, “U” de Mann-Whitney e Kruskal-Wallis (p<0,05). Resultados: As idosas mais jovens apresentaram maior autoestima do que as mais velhas. As que não possuem companheiro são mais motivadas para a prevenção de doenças, aparência física e controle do estresse em detrimento às idosas com companheiro. As com renda mensal de até dois salários mínimos e as aposentadas apresentaram escore superior em todos os fatores de motivação. As idosas com ensino fundamental completo são mais motivadas para condição física, controle do peso, aparência física e diversão do que as com ensino fundamental incompleto e médio completo. Conclusão: Concluiu-se que o estado conjugal, renda mensal e escolaridade são fatores intervenientes na motivação para o exercício das idosas, enquanto a idade demonstrou ser interveniente na autoestima.
Objetivo: Analisar a associação da autoestima e a insatisfação corporal com os motivos para a prática de hidroginástica em idosas. Metodologia: Participaram 70 idosas praticantes de hidroginástica em academias na Cidade de Maringá-PR, há no mínimo três meses. Como instrumentos foram utilizados um questionário sociodemográfico, a Escala de autoestima de Rosemberg, a Escala de silhuetas e o Exercise motivation inventory (EMI-2). A análise dos dados foi conduzida por meio dos testes de Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney, correlação de Spearman e Path Analysis (p < 0,05). Resultados: Os resultados evidenciaram que as idosas com presença de distúrbio de autoestima são mais motivadas para competir e serem reconhecidas socialmente. As idosas satisfeitas com o próprio corpo são mais motivadas a praticar a hidroginástica para a prevenção de doenças. Ocorreu correlação significativa (p < 0,05) do fator de condição física com a autoestima (r = 0,28) e do fator de diversão com a autoestima (r = 0,32). O modelo de Path analysis revelou que a autoestima apresentou efeito moderado sobre os fatores de condição física (β=0,22) e diversão (β=0,24). Conclusão: Concluiu-se que a autoestima e a insatisfação corporal são fatores intervenientes na motivação de idosas para a prática de atividade física. Ressalta-se que a autoestima pode favorecer a busca pela atividade física para melhorar a saúde física e para a diversão.
Este estudo comparou a autoestima, a autoimagem e a motivação para a prática de hidroginástica de acordo com as condições de saúde de 70 idosas de Maringá (PR). Tratou-se de um estudo transversal que utilizou um questionário sociodemográfico e de saúde, a escala de autoestima de Rosenberg, a escala de nove silhuetas e o Inventário de Motivação para o Exercício-2. A análise dos dados foi conduzida por meio dos testes de Kolmogorov-Smirnov e “U” de Mann-Whitney (p < 0,05). Os resultados indicaram que idosas com percepção de saúde boa obtiveram maior autoestima do que aquelas com percepção regular (p = 0,019). As idosas que utilizam até dois medicamentos apresentaram maior escore de autoestima do que as que fazem uso de mais de dois medicamentos (p = 0,042). As idosas com histórico de quedas alcançaram escore superior em todos os fatores de motivação, menor escore de autoestima e maior insatisfação corporal do que aqueles sem histórico de quedas (p < 0,05). As participantes do estudo que praticam a hidroginástica menos vezes por semana são mais motivadas para prevenção de doenças (p = 0,004) e de diversão (p = 0,003). Concluiu-se que a percepção de saúde, a utilização de medicamentos, o histórico de quedas e a frequência da prática de hidroginástica afetam os motivos que levam as idosas a praticarem a hidroginástica
