Figurando como um dos principais produtores e exportadores de soja o Brasil destaca-se pela potencialidade de plantio de duas safras, uma em seguida da outra, também conhecidas como safra principal e safrinha. Para realização da safrinha com o milho, por exemplo, é necessário à utilização de cultivares precoces de soja que antecipem o período de plantio na segunda safra. Sendo assim, objetivou-se com este trabalho estudar a adaptabilidade de cultivares precoce de soja para o cultivo de verão na Região Sul de Minas Gerais. Os caracteres avaliados foram produtividade de grãos, altura de plantas, inserção do primeiro legume e ciclo de cultivo das cultivares introduzidas. O experimento foi conduzido na safra 2012/2013 e 2013/2014, adotando o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados, com 25 cultivares e três repetições. Os resultados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de variância conjunta e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Scott-Knott (1974) a 5 % de probabilidade, com o auxílio do pacote estatístico SISVAR. Adotou-se a estimativa da acurácia para precisão experimental. Em função dos resultados obtidos pode-se inferir que das cultivares avaliadas destaca-se a cultivar BMX Força RR, por apresentar características favoráveis ao cultivo de verão, possibilitando a realização de segunda safra na região sul de Minas Gerais, associado a boas características agronômicas e precocidade.

ABSTRACT. Sweet sorghum has considerable potential for ethanol production due to its succulent stalks that contain directly fermentable sugars. Since many traits need to be considered in the selection process to breed superior cultivars for ethanol production, then correlations between the traits might be of use to help the breeder define optimal improvement strategies. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the principal agro-industrial traits in sweet sorghum, and to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of primary and secondary traits on ethanol production per hectare. In total, 45 sweet sorghum genotypes (lineage/ hybrids) were evaluated in an experiment designed in an alpha lattice 5 x 9. The data were analyzed using a mixed model approach. A detailed study of simple correlations was accomplished using path analysis. The experimental precision was high, with an accuracy above 76%. The various genotypes showed genetic variation for all agronomic and industrial traits, except stalk diameter. The results highlighted the primary and secondary traits with practical relevance to sweet sorghum breeding, since they showed director indirect effects on ethanol production.

O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar por meio da análise de trilha, a influência de alguns caracteres agronômicos de cultivares de soja, em função de diferentes densidades de planta, e a contribuição dessas características no rendimento de grãos. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso completos, dispostos em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com três repetições. As parcelas foram compostas por quatro densidades populacionais (300, 400, 500 e 600 mil plantas por hectare) e, as subparcelas foram compostas por seis cultivares (BMX Força RR, CD 250 RR, FMT 08 ? 60.346/1, NA 5909 RR, TMG 7161 RR e V ? TOP RR) cultivados em Lavras e Incofindentes, ambos em Minas Gerais. Por ocasião da colheita determinou-se a altura de plantas, a inserção do primeiro legume, o índice de colheita, o número de legumes por planta, o número de grãos, o número de grãos por vagem e a produtividade dos grãos. Com os dados obtidos foram elaboradas as matrizes de correlação fenotípica. As correlações foram desdobradas em efeitos diretos e indiretos das variáveis independentes (componentes de produtividade e caracteres agronômicos) sobre a variável dependente (produtividade de grãos). Os caracteres número de legumes por planta e o número de grãos por legumes são os componentes que apresentam maiores efeitos diretos sobre a produtividade de grãos de soja, sendo assim, estes podem ser utilizados na seleção indireta visando o incremento da produtividade de grãos.

No Estado de Minas Gerais, tem sido constatado que as raças fisiológicas prevalecentes de Phaeiosariopsis griseola (Sacc.) Ferr. infectam predominantemente os feijões mesoamericanos. Os feijões andinos normalmente apresentam boa resistência. A introdução de alelos de resistência de cultivares andinas em cultivares mesoamericanas é uma boa estratégia na obtenção de cultivares adaptadas e resistentes a esse patógeno. Com esse objetivo foi realizado o cruzamento entre a linhagem ESAL 550 (grupo andino e resistente à mancha angular) x Carioca-MG (grupo mesoamericano e suscetível à mancha angular). Após a avaliação das famílias segregantes nas gerações F2:3, F2:4 e F2:5, foram selecionadas linhagens que associavam bom nível de resistência à P. griseola e grãos creme com rajas marrons porém, nenhum deles em condições de ter aceitação comercial.

ABSTRACT. This study aimed at verifying the adaptability and stability of soybean cultivars, considering the grain yield and quality of seeds, adopting univariate and multivariate approaches. The experiments were conducted in two crops, three environments, in 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 crop seasons, in the county of Inconfidentes, Lavras, and Patos de Minas, in the Minas Gerais State, Brazil. We evaluated 17 commercial soybean cultivars. For adaptability and stability evaluations, the Graphic and GGE biplot methods were employed. Previously, a selection index was estimated based on the sum of the standardized variables (Z index). The data relative to grain yield, mass of one thousand grain, uniformity test (sieve retention), and germination test were standardized (Z ij ) per cultivar. With the sum of Z ij , we obtained the selection index for the four traits evaluated together. In the Graphic method evaluation, cultivars NA 7200 RR and CD 2737 RR presented the highest values for selection index Z. By the GGE biplot method, we verified that cultivar NA 7200 RR presented greater stability in both univariate evaluations, for grain yield, and for selection index Z.

Among the fruit species cultivated in subtropical climates, quince has productive cultivars with high horticultural potential. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the genetic divergence among quince cultivars through multivariate procedures and to identify cultivars for cultivation in the tropics through selection indices. Twenty-seven productive quince cultivars were grown in a location with a high-altitude tropical climate. The number of fruit, estimated yield, flowering period, number of buds, number of shoots, number of brindles per shoot, shoot length, average fruit weight, fruit length, and fruit diameter were measured. A multivariate principal component analysis (PCA) associated with the unweighted pair group method with arithmetic means (UPGMA) based on Gower distance and Pearson correlation coefficients was used to evaluate genetic divergence. Superior cultivars were defined by the selection index based on the rank summation index and the Z-index. UPGMA grouping indicated there was genetic variability among cultivars and showed that groups that were more dissimilar [e.g., the cultivars Bereckzy and Champion (distance = 0.69)] had the potential to be used in future stages of quince selection. The estimated yield, shoot length, fruit weight and diameter, and flowering period contributed to the maximum variability among quince cultivars. The selection indices identified cvs. Bereckzy, Alaranjado, and Alongado (30, 68, and 73 rank summation index, respectively) as superior, simultaneously considering the evaluated traits with greater potential for cultivation in the tropics.
