O objetivo principal desta investigação foi analisar a percepção de 69 responsáveis e/ou chefes imediatos de funcionários com deficiência intelectual (DI) contratados por 18 empresas do Distrito Federal (DF), focalizando diferentes aspectos relacionados ao trabalho. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo-descritivo, realizado em parceria da Universidade Católica de Brasília (UCB) com uma organização não-governamental (ONG) sediada no DF com atuação em educação profissional e trabalho voltada para pessoas com deficiência intelectual e múltipla. O estudo teve como pesquisadores 2 graduandos e 2 mestrandos do curso de Psicologia da UCB para construção dos dados, sendo utilizado um instrumento contendo 12 itens com questões abertas e fechadas e 18 relatórios elaborados pelos universitários com registros sobre a atuação no campo de pesquisa. Os dados foram construídos no local e horário de trabalho dos participantes, mediante agendamento apoiado pela ONG parceira. Utilizou-se estatística básica para análise dos dados, visando à descrição interpretativa das questões direcionadas aos objetivos do estudo. Os resultados revelaram avaliação positiva dos trabalhadores com DI por parte das chefias, explicada principalmente pelo seu desempenho e comportamento profissional, mesmo observando-se: (a) falta de adequação ambiental às condições laborativas desses trabalhadores; (b) pouca oportunidade para seu desenvolvimento profissional nas empresas e; (c) ocorrência de inaceitação por parte de clientes.
