A política de silêncio do problema agrário brasileiro Introdução O Brasil é um Estado-nação que detém pouco controle sobre seu território interno. Sob a égide do "desenvolvimento", setores das classes dominantes têm alienado grandes porções de seu território para indivíduos ou pessoas jurídicas, sem qualquer limite de extensão e sem preferência de nacionalidade-com legislação e regulação cada vez mais permissiva à estrangeirização-, em detrimento das populações, geralmente de condição social modesta, que vivem nestes locais. Este processo, no caso brasileiro, tem a especificidade de manter uma das maiores concentrações fundiárias do mundo 3 que, além das dramáticas consequências sociais, tem acarretado a manutenção de uma democracia que se baseia em um sistema oligárquico de representação (MONTERO, 2005).
