Introdução: no Brasil, a taxa de mortalidade infantil vem apresentando tendência contínua de queda, no entanto, a taxa ainda se encontra em nível muito elevado se comparada com a de países desenvolvidos. O enfermeiro atua durante o momento do parto e poderá assegurar a mulher e ao recém-nascido um parto natural, humanizado, assegurando o bem-estar de ambos. Objetivo: analisar as ações de humanização durante a assistência de enfermagem prestadas ao recém-nascido. Metodologia: revisão bibliográfica, exploratória. Foi utilizado para coleta de dados, as publicações indexadas na Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde, incluídos artigos publicados entre 2008 a 2018. A busca dos artigos científicos ocorreu no mês de dezembro de 2018, foram encontrados 14 artigos para avaliação na íntegra. Resultados: observou-se que as ações de humanização nos cuidados imediatos ao recém-nascido são o primeiro contato pele a pele com a mãe, incentivo a amamentação, o método canguru, acolhimento aos pais, inserção de enfermeiras obstétricas, redução de infecção neonatal, inserção da família nos cuidados ao recém-nascido, introdução de modernas unidades neonatal e capacitação para os profissionais. Discussão: apesar dos progressos técnico-científicos, da organização e do aperfeiçoamento dos cuidados terem gerado significativas transformações no cuidado ao recém nascido, os índices de mortalidade neonatal permanecem elevados, assim a adequação do cuidado ao recém nascido tem sido um desafio. Considerações Finais: a humanização da assistência de enfermagem durante o nascimento poderá contribuir de forma positiva, obtendo-se resultados de maior qualidade, reduzindo os índices de mortalidade infantil pautados numa nova forma de assistência individualizada e holística.
