This paper deals with two basic problems: establish the possible relationship between Pontic Iberia and the origin of the ñame of Spanish Iberia, studying the information wich surely some Greek mythical stories comprise, and establish the contents exclusively geographical, and far of any ethnical consideration, which the word «Iberia» (Hispania) had in ancient times, turning to the graeco-latin authors' witness.
The struggle between Argos and Sparta because the Thyreatis and the cult of Apollo PythaeusABSTRACT This paper explores the political, military and, mainly, cultic meaning of the so-called "Battle of the Champions" which gave rise, immediately, to different traditions, deeply charged with ritual and legendary elements, both among Argives and Spartiates. We deal especially with the link between the Spartan victory in that battle and the Gymnopaidiai fests and the enigmatic Parparonia. Lastly, we stress the importance of the cult of Apollo Pythaeus, of Argive origins but also present in Sparta, which supported the hegemonic interests of both states, Argos and Lacedaemon, in the frontier territory of the Thyreatis.
The uses of the horse in Greece are reviewed from the Mycenaean until Late Classical times in order to trace its development as a military weapon. Besides, the social projection of the use of the horse in Greece is also addressed, as well as the development of equestrian contests which served also as a means of stressing the social status of the leading groups within the Greek poleis. In a final chapter the possible reflections of the uses of the horse in Greece in the Iberian world are also considered, although the possible relationships are confined mainly to iconographical loans from Greek prototypes to some Iberian artistic manifestations.

In this wofk my purpose is thinking about Greek geographer Strabo's view of Iberia, from the view-point of some of the elements which shape the socially-ordered life of its people, but also about the part which inside it occupies the phenomenon known as «Romanization», at least, according to the geographer. Likewise I am trying draw an hypothesis, partially supported by Strabo himself, about the process through which brigandage became an outstanding economic source throughout Interior and Atlantic Iberia, and prevalent way-life in those áreas, even before the Román presence. Lastly, resting upon economic facts, but also supported by other sorts of evidence, I believe that in the Iberian Península, two parts are easily appreciated, neatly different each other: the Eastern-Southern one, and the rest of Iberia; besides, Strabo knew so accurately such disparities, that his witness is such as it is, because it is built over that assumption.
