Beim Studium der Literatur über die sogenannte Serum-Labilitäts-Reaktion (L.R.) stößt man auf zahlreiche sich widersprechende Erfahrungen und Urteile. Viele erfahrene Kliniker stehen daher diesem subtilen Gebiet der Diagnostik von vornherein ablehnend gegenüber. Wir gestehen, daß auch wir den einfachen klinischen Untersuchungsmethoden in der Praxis den Vorzug geben, doch möchten wir nach unseren bisherigen Erfahrungen die L.R. trotz ihrer bekannten Vieldeutigkeit und trotz gelegentlichen Versagens nicht mehr missen. Die Zahl der in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten beschriebenen L.R. ist inzwischen so groß geworden, daß es uns nutzbringend erschien, durch vergleichende Untersuchung eine gewisse Auswahl zu treffen. Bekanntlich werden die L.R. besonders in der Leberdiagnostik angewendet, vielfach sogar als ,,leberspezifisch' angesehen. in den westlichen Ländern gehören einzelne ER. zum eisernen Bestande einer Vielzahl von Leberfunktionsproben, sogenannten Batterys. Dabei wird mit den L.R. natürlich nur ein Ausschnitt aus dem Eiweißspektrum erfaßt. Unter den neueren L.R. spielt der Thymol-Test (Th.T.) eine besondere Rolle. Wir haben diesen Test bei 380 Seren von rund 200 Kranken und Gesunden vergleichend untersucht und teilen unsere Erfahrungen bezüglich Technik und klinischer Brauchbarkeit mit.Der Th.T. ist 1944 von M a c 1 a g a n (1) entwickelt worden und wird vom Autor und Nachuntersuchern im Verein mit anderen Funktionsproben, wie z. B. Serumphosphatasebestimmung zur Differentialdiagnose Parenchym-Ikterus Versdilull-Ikterus und besonders in der Diagnostik latenter Leberschäden empfohlen.
