Kampung Tridi, Jodipan Malang, which was initially a slum residential area has transformed now into a colorful area with a concept of colorful order, arranged linearly according to the houses pattern. This setting is positively effective to attract tourist interest to come and success in changing the aspect of social, culture and economy of the residents. The aspect which has been through adequate significant change is the economy, which is indicated from the number of residents who take benefit from their house's terrace that initially used as a conventional family area, now turn into an area of trading. This change is conducted to be economic support in order to fulfill their life needs. This research aims to identify the pattern of terrace utilization as the place where the trading activity takes place in Kampung Tridi Jodipan Malang. This research exerts the method of descriptive qualitative which identifies the pattern of terrace utilization through field survey, interview, and literature studies, while the method of analysis used behavior mapping. This research finding shows that the utilization pattern of the residential terrace as the trading spot is located exactly in the front part of the house, that is the terrace. The houses that using the terrace as the trading spot are mostly located in the front of the main path which leads to the Jembatan Kaca (Glass bridge) that connects Kampung Tridi with Kampung Warna-warni in the south.
Suroyo street corridor located in the City of Probolinggo is one of the central areas of the Dutch government that has several conservation buildings as a historical identity of the city. Colonial buildings in this location have various facades that are able to describe the visual characteristics of the historic area. However, there were developments that affect the modernity of the region by changing colonial buildings into other functions and changing some facade elements which will certainly eliminate some of the visual characteristics of colonial building facades on each building. The purpose of this study is to classify the facade forming elements and get the dominant form in each element that forms the facade of the remaining colonial buildings, so it wouldn't lose the overall visual character of the colonial building facade and to be able to respond to the development of a more directed and controlled. The method that were used is descriptive qualitative methods by selecting samples using purposive sampling, then proceed with data collection through field observations and interviews to obtain relevant information and analysis by classifying building masses, walls, roof elements, doors, windows and facade symmetry. The results showed the visual character of the colonial building with the style of De Stilj with the classification of the dominance of a single mass, roof shield, paint plaster brick walls, double-paneled doors, double-windowed grating, and the symmetrical shape of the building facade.
Jorongan Village is as an area designated as the Furniture Industry Center of Probolingggo Regency, thereby leading to changes in some houses functionality from residential to business. This certainly changes the internal and external layout of the houses used for furniture business. The purpose of this research is to identify the spatial layout pattern of business houses in the furniture industrial center area of Probolinggo Regency. This research was carried out with the behavior mapping approach used to describe the existing space in each furniture business house. Therefore, based on the analysis results, there are four patterns of business function space layout, the first, second, and third are located at the front, side and partially inside the building, while the other part is located in the side. Furthermore, the pattern with part of the business function space is located inside the building, and partly outside the front and side of the house. The result showed that three houses had irregular patterns with different layouts from other businesses.
