Writing skills of students in various faculties are competencies that need to be developed in accordance with the vision and purpose for the faculty itself. The Faculty of Education is a faculty which educates and writing skills to students from any department to have a sensitivity and a critical attitude toward education. This research employs qualitative research. It was expected to give inspirations to further research in linear field and also to inspire readers to implement writing based-project in their instruction. Using project-based learning directly guides them to write an article. The study involved 32 students of the 2nd of Mathematics Education Academic Year 2015/2016. We describe a reflective study on their articles that published in the local mass media. The results show that the students' interest were very varied, there are education and history education, education and values, contemporary problems of education and mathematics education. It is also show that using project based-learning, the number of students' articles published in mass media is 25% (8 of 32 articles), the remain articles (75%) were under review. From the results, it can be concluded that by using project-based learning, students' writing ability can be enhanced. Further, this learning can foster student learning and engage faculty in professional development.
This study aimed to develop conceptual frameworks on how to teach STEM concepts in a Bahasa Indonesia subject as integrated learning. This study used a mixed-methods research design that consisted of a document analysis, a survey, and a systematic review. To address the aims of this study, we first determined the STEM concepts on basic competencies of a Bahasa Indonesia subject of Grades 1–3 at elementary school level in the curriculum 2013; the recommended teaching and learning strategies in learning STEM concepts integrated into a Bahasa Indonesia subject of Grades 1–3 at elementary school in the curriculum 2013; and the first proposed conceptual frameworks on how to teach STEM concepts in a Bahasa Indonesia subject as an integrated learning in Grades 1–3 at elementary school level in the curriculum 2013 based on systematic review. The results showed that the conceptual frameworks on how to teach science concepts in a Bahasa Indonesia subject as integrated learning in Grades 1–3 at elementary school level in the curriculum 2013 consisted of Bahasa Indonesia as the main goal and science concepts as an approach to address goals, and recommends it be taught using reading. The conceptual framework on how to teach technology concepts in a Bahasa Indonesia subject as an integrated learning in Grades 1–3 at elementary school level in the curriculum 2013 consisted of Bahasa Indonesia as the main goal and technology concepts as an approach to address goals, and recommends that it be taught using reading. These findings will be useful to Indonesian teachers and teachers in other countries that have integrated science or STEM concepts in the language subject in their curricula as integrated learning or will use integrated learning in their future curricula to contribute to sustainability education.
Electricity is a concept that is abstract and difficult to see by eye directly, one example electric shock, but cannot see the movement of electric current so that students have difficulty by students. A computer simulation designed to improve the understanding of the concept of the workings of the dry cell (battery). This study was conducted to 82 students (aged 18-20 years) in the experimental group by learning to use the Dry Cell Microscopic Simulation (DCMS). The result shows the improving of students’ conceptual understanding scores from post test were statistically significantly of the workings of batteries. The implication using computer simulations designed to overcome the difficulties of conceptual understanding, can effectively help students in facilitating conceptual change.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
