With the recently grown attention from different research communities for opinion mining, there is an evolving body of work on Arabic Sentiment Analysis (ASA). This paper introduces a systematic review of the existing literature relevant to ASA. The main goals of the review are to support research, to propose further areas for future studies in ASA, and to smoothen the progress of other researchers’ search for related studies. The findings of the review propose a taxonomy for sentiment classification methods. Furthermore, the limitations of existing approaches are highlighted in the preprocessing step, feature generation, and sentiment classification methods. Some likely trends for future research with ASA are suggested in both practical and theoretical aspects.
Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) has been successfully applied to solve a wide range of combinatorial optimization problems such as minimum spanning tree, traveling salesman problem, and quadratic assignment problem. Basic ACO has drawbacks of trapping into local minimum and low convergence rate. Simulated annealing (SA) and mutation operator have the jumping ability and global convergence; and local search has the ability to speed up the convergence. Therefore, this paper proposed a hybrid ACO algorithm integrating the advantages of ACO, SA, mutation operator, and local search procedure to solve the traveling salesman problem. The core of algorithm is based on the ACO. SA and mutation operator were used to increase the ants population diversity from time to time and the local search was used to exploit the current search area efficiently. The comparative experiments, using 24 TSP instances from TSPLIB, show that the proposed algorithm outperformed some well-known algorithms in the literature in terms of solution quality.
Due to the increase of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technologies demand, the optimal sensor node deployment is considered as one of the most important factors that directly affect the network coverage. Most researches in WSNs that solved the problem of coverage in homogeneous and heterogeneous cases are suffering from many drawbacks such as consumed energy and high cost. In this paper, we propose an efficient deployment model based on probabilistic sensing model (PSM) and harmony search algorithm (HSA) to achieve the balance between the network coverage performance and the network cost in a heterogeneous wireless sensor network (HEWSN). The HSA is used for deployment optimization of HEWSN nodes which makes a balance between the coverage and financial cost. The PSM is used to solve the overlapping problem among the sensors. The performance of the proposed model is analyzed in terms of coverage ratio and cost evaluations. The simulation results showed the capability of the proposed heterogeneous deployment model to achieve maximum coverage and a minimum number of sensors compared to homogeneous deployment. Furthermore, a comparative study with a meta-heuristic genetic-based algorithm in HEWSN has also been conducted, and its results confirm the superiority of the proposed model.
Sentiment analysis has recently become increasingly important with a massive increase in online content. It is associated with the analysis of textual data generated by social media that can be easily accessed, obtained, and analyzed. With the emergence of COVID-19, most published studies related to COVID-19’s conspiracy theories were surveys on the people's sentiments and opinions and studied the impact of the pandemic on their lives. Just a few studies utilized sentiment analysis of social media using a machine learning approach. These studies focused more on sentiment analysis of Twitter tweets in the English language and did not pay more attention to other languages such as Arabic. This study proposes a machine learning model to analyze the Arabic tweets from Twitter. In this model, we apply Word2Vec for word embedding which formed the main source of features. Two pretrained continuous bag-of-words (CBOW) models are investigated, and Naïve Bayes was used as a baseline classifier. Several single-based and ensemble-based machine learning classifiers have been used with and without SMOTE (synthetic minority oversampling technique). The experimental results show that applying word embedding with an ensemble and SMOTE achieved good improvement on average of F1 score compared to the baseline classifier and other classifiers (single-based and ensemble-based) without SMOTE.
