Abstract The article shows the richness of the archaeological heritage of the region of Smara. The material evidences that highlighted this richness were collected at the following sites: Paleolithic surface sites: Gour EBRD Laasli Boukerç, Oum Lmaard and the Sfa river. We speculate that these sites are representative for all the prehistoric lithic technology traditionsin the region. Rock art sites: Laasli Boukerç, Laasli Day, Laasli Ddik, Laasli Ric, Miran, SFA and Lmaard Oum, these sites are considered by the author to be representative of rock art in South Morocco. Unfortunately the Smara monumental heritage is based only on "the house of Hawza" "Prehistoric burials" traditions are represented by some monuments (tombs and tumuli) in the Hawza area. The diverse archeological heritage in differents sites in Smara makes this area one of the most important historical and cultural areas of South Morocco. The archaeological heritage of Smara is worth to be protected for future generations, and is quite vital for local economy.
