Music and dancing are two different arts yet inseparable and which can be both powerful expression channels for a society or an artist. In most cases, the rhythm, tempo and performance of a dance depend on those of the music. This paper presents a new form of artistic expression form of the Japanese "Geisha" dance video that combines music and dancing in a different manner than the ones we are used to. With a selection of different kind of music, it is now possible to have one type of dance that synchronizes with all those music genres, independently on the order in which they are played. By taking as input a series of various audio music signals, the system performs the retrieval of spectral shape features, by locating signal peak position and detecting the onsets. With the information gathered, a scalar factor is deducted and used as a multiplier to change the speed of the dance video stream playback. (Abstract)
Painting based cubic VR is a technique that uses elements extracted from paintings to create a 3D visual impression. It breaks the old routine that painting can only take a 2D structure. However, it requires creators to have some knowledge of art and space because of the complexity during its production. The authors have developed a method aided by computational method, to simplify the process. This paper extends the specific method. It proved that both western paintings and Chinese traditional paintings can be used as materials. Essentially, this paper tries to fuse old and new styles of media to express art. (Abstract)
