El presente artículo indaga sobre las metáforas de construcción del individuo en sociedad a la luz del síntoma de la época planteado en la película Šílení de Jan Švankmajer (2005): la locura de la institucionalización. En este sentido, se entiende que la película se plantea como ejemplo susceptible de análisis desde la óptica metaforológica de Blumenberg e incluso como una representación de la teoría en sí. Para el desarrollo, se plantea la evolución y coherencia entre la ontología, la fenomenología y la antropología dentro del esquema teórico de Blumenberg, con el fin de establecer qué tanto las facultades psíquicas de la conciencia y los elementos materiales externos al ser constituyen elementos de construcción simbólica de la identidad. Después, se analiza este proceso en dos personajes opuestos de la película Šílení, Jan y el Marqués, haciendo énfasis en la crítica implícita que implica el enfrentamiento de cada uno con su entorno cultural y social.
